He explained with a smile that Italian art hadn’t ended with the masterpieces of the Renaissance but continued into the modern time. We learned so much from him and visited often, buying many pieces (at all price points) including paintings and sculptures. He arranged shipment and always provided backgrounds on “his” Artists, one of whom we met in person. The shop has an excellent selection of bags and jackets and Sam is so helpful, personable, and speaks perfect English. I could have bought several things that were on display in the shop, but we ended up purchasing two beautiful purses for my daughter that he brought out from another room. I use Wilma’s shoes almost every week and I can say I have not have more comfortable and stylish shoes. If you like parchment, quills and instruments of calligraphy, Signum is the shop you are looking for. - KelliC2 contributionsWish I could give this gem of a store 100 stars! The owner is a 5th generation paper maker and is the friendliest man in all of Florence. We chatted with him for nearly an hour and he invited me back the next day to give me a lesson on how to make the marbled paper. Alas, we were leaving, but next time I get to Florence, I'm carving our an entire day - or week- just for Francesco! The shop was lovely and the paper products are top notch. - Lucy MManchester, UK31 contributionsI visited Oro Due in September 2022 during a solo trip to Italy. It was my first solo holiday and I wanted an 'interesting' item of jewellery to both commemorate my first trip of its kind, and remember my Italian adventure.
I found Oro Due online whilst conducting my own research prior to the trip and being warned to stay away from the shops on Ponte Vecchio (which from my own assessment seemed very 'touristy', i.e. overwhelming in choice, over-priced, and of lower quality). I spoke with Veronica in the morning who was pleasant and helpful. I settled on a solid 18K gold pendant replicating a florin from the 1250s bearing the lily of Firenze ('Giglio') on one side and St John the baptist on the other. She let me try the pendant on together with a selection of gold chains, wrote down their respective prices including what I would get in terms of a tax refund at the airport, and didn't push me when I said that I would like time to think about the purchase.
I returned to the shop towards the end of the day and spoke with Veronica's brother, Lorenzo, who let me try on my preferred chain and pendant combination one more time before we agreed the sale.
All gold pieces are sold by weight and so will vary somewhat, but to give prospective buyers a rough idea of what to expect, I paid €285 (circa £245 GBP) exclusive of the tax refund (which will be €35) which I was happy with (NB: You will need your passport with you so that they can complete the necessary tax refund form). The quality is brilliant (I can't begin to tell you how shiny both the pendant and chain are!) and reflects the skill required to produce the piece. I can't wait to start wearing my necklace here in the UK - it will undoubtedly attract a lot of positive comments.

After seeing reviews for Walters on the internet we decided to try this store, where we were very happy to find silver puzzle rings for 20euros cheaper! The rings are beautiful and the quality superb, the lady behind the counter was very helpful and not pushy at all. - KjgreigyManchester, UK267 contributionsWe were taken here on a walking tour and we decided to go back the next day as the jewellery was so bespoke and all totally hand made in the little shop. They are so passionate about their work and it shows.
I treated myself to one of the hammered necklaces and matching earrings they are fabulous and I cannot wait to wear them.
Definitely worth a look and a visit whilst in Florence. I had this place on my list because of the great reviews and my love for artisan shops. It surely did not disappoint. In fact, it entirely exceeded my expectations.
From the moment I walked in, a kind woman looked after me and explained how the workshop had been in her family for 5 generations. They do absolutely everything in-house. She also explained how they provide paper and stationary to multiple lawyers offices, government bodies, etc.. in the region.
Once I had made my selection (a gorgeous marbled card wallet) she let me know I could have it engraved in 25 Karat gold FREE OF CHARGE. I then got to witness the, I imagine age-old practice, of engraving gold on to a piece of leather. They first had to pick out the correct letters for the initials, then heat the iron for a few minutes, and then gracefully press the metal hard on the gold leaf and it leaves the gold printed on the leather. It was a truly fascinating experience that I will not soon forget.
This is a true gem in Florence. I know cities like Florence can be overwhelming with shops, never sure which ones are genuine workshops/artisans or just cheap souvenir stores. I guarantee you this place is genuine and they need your business.
