What travellers are saying
- SwedishtomcatDiss, UK3,566 contributionsA plethora of stalls serving food, souvenirs, clothes, bags and nicknacks. We only purchased edibles starting with a workman favourite - the mackerel roll. Wandered along a bit and stopped for a homemade stroopwaffle. Since the weather was a bit cold & wet we then finished with a cone of frites (& mayo) to warm us up.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ShannenExeter, UK2 contributionsI came here on my own and was a little nervous but I love things like this so wanted to do it! The place was super cute and fun! The staff made me feel so much better about being on my own and were super engaging and took photos for me. You also get videos and photos sent to your QR code for free as they have photo stands in a lot of the areas. Would definitely prefer to visit with friends, but glad I went! 💗Written 25 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - david nManchester, UK4,758 contributionsLots of tourists taking pics of themselves in front of this famous market, of the (very similar) stalls and tourist bric-a-brac. On one side of a canal with, of all things, a Xmas shop about halfway along on the opposite of the narrow lane.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pennington32London, UK292 contributionsNice department store with a good selection of quality merchandise.
It is not unlike a smaller Selfridges in London. Cafes abound around to take the weight of your feet / purchases.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lenny HAuckland, New Zealand795 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit, but don't go out of your way to get there. Cheap cosmetics, reasonably priced cafeteria and good if you need socks or underwear.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - david nManchester, UK4,758 contributionsThe large open space is dominated by the old weighing station - pictured to the left of this review with its turrets and red doors. On most days there seems to be a few stalls - usually a grocer / vegetable stall and sometimes a fast-food van and a fish stall.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roberts69Northampton, UK18,303 contributionsIf you like antique emporiums that are made up of lots of individual trader stalls and cabinets full of interesting collectables and trinkets then 'Antiekcentrum' in Amsterdam is a place you should visit. Quite a large antique market where you could spend a couple of hours out of the rain on a wet day.Written 24 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - matildadavis07Canterbury, UK12 contributionsSaw Eyemazy on tiktok before our visit and immediately decided that this is what we wanted to do when coming to amsterdam. We went to the shop at about 11am, shortly after it opened and were greeted with the loveliest lady behind the till. she gave us an appointment for 20 minutes time so that the shop didn’t become too cramped. When going back we were guided to the machine where our eyes were photographed, the lady taking the photos was very lovely and looked at both eyes under the microscope and chose the most interesting eye. You then get to see the eyes and choose how you want them on the print. The photos take 45 minutes to get printed so we had to wait in a cafe nearby.Written 15 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 4allisonsTopsail Island, NC277 contributionsThe whole of Spuismarkt is a bit of a flea market, but the section set aside for art features local artists displaying the best of their works. Almost all of them are remarkable. But of course, some may appeal to you and others will not.
Local work by local artists is *exactly* what we wanted to bring home with us. Both as gifts for others and keepsakes for our home. We came *this* close to buying some jewelry. But the huge yellow poster by the painter known as Mr. Yellow called out to us more, and it now hangs on a wall in our home. We also bought several hand-carved gifts for our children, but the amazing hand-carved lizard on a tree stump ... oh no, I just can't figure out how to pack it safely into our luggage or carry it onto the plane. Well, there ya go ... local art is sold as much to local residents as to visitors. Our son would have LOVED it.
The Spui market has the art section, an amazing section dedicated to books and books and even more books. Plus the average local flea market.
But the most important feature of the art market--for travelers who are on a tight schedule--is that it's open on Sundays! Most of the markets are closed on Sundays.Written 4 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - R. K. V.Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam2,590 contributionsFun place to buy the famous cows, including local and limited edition designs. Very good and friendly service. - helen lAscot, UK14 contributionsWhat a find. Made a purposeful trip having heard about these, and it was well worth the visit. Crispy on the outside, gooey in the middle and amazing chocolate taste, fairly sweet as you would expect, but not too much. May have to come back!Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lenny HAuckland, New Zealand795 contributionsA more authentic local market than some of the others. The aisles are very narrow, so it is hard to stop and look around. A great range of produce, although the traditional Dutch chips were missing the day we went.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
