- Tonya B6 contributionsWild beaches, sunrise over my morning swim, no cars, no internet, no fridge, no mail, no kids, no friends, no colleagues. No appointments, no zoom time, no need to be anywhere or do anything but row, row, row, into the sea, over the waves, slowly, surely, getting into the rhythm. On the fourth day, Zen sets in. The paddle dipping into the sea, gliding along, new companions gliding too, in unspoken formation.
This somehow, is the place we got to thanks to Patrizio our guide. This tour of Elba is so much more than the physical challenge, much more than simply learning (or perfecting) a sport, this tour is deeply cultural. We learn to be human again. Patrizio knows all the nooks and crannies, the twists and turns of the coastline, the currents, the eddies, the winds that might hamper our smooth course, the waves that might rock us too hard. He knows the beaches where, even during Ferragosto (peak Italian summer holiday time) we can set up our tents and be alone with the stars. He knows the bays and the rocky inlets where our kayaks can slide up onto safe ground. And he teaches us too, to relax on the sea, bobbing together, clustered around him as he tells stories - of Napolean, of mines and mineral deposits, of animals and plants, of winds and currents and sea philosophies.
We all move around the island, together, alone, overcoming fears, leaving complexity behind, looking towards land from a new perspective. We don't ask many questions about where we're from, or the work we do, or the loved ones we've lost or left behind. We're creating a moment together, and working hard on just that. Patrizio reminds me that "the sea is the great equaliser". I try and make sense of that quote from Jacques Cousteau with my head. I argue with him about it.
But by the end of the week, I understand it with my heart.

They are on time, their have a wide knowledge about the place, always making sure to be audible and understood when talking about the places. Many curious things I found out. Inside the boat sometimes they put nice music. They stopped enough time to have a swim. The hosts are kind and professional. We had a blast with Anna, Captain, and family. it was a gorgeous day and their fun loving spirit made the experience special. Swimming, cruising the coastline and eating...and lots of dancing. I’m from Scotland but I was made to feel so welcome from Dario, Antonio and all of his team! They made sure I was always okay and hydrated as well as having such a fun time!! The sea was beautiful and jumping in was one of my favourite parts! They were all so kind and funny and all the Italians who were there too for the trip were so friendly! If you visit Isola d’Elba you have to take a trip with Dario & his team! So we did quite a few dives and everything was perfect. Andrea and his team are simply amazing. Very professional, but at the same time fun and easy going. Each dive with them was great experience. I've been divng all around the world - from Australia, through Asia to Europe and I would count Andrea and his team amongst the best that I dove with. - Chiara T1 contributionWhat an incredible experience! It was my and my husband's first time scuba diving, and the guys at Sub Now made it memorable, fun, relaxed and just amazing. THANK YOU Lorenzo, Antonio and Kepa for everything you did and for the way you are: warm, always professional, kind, fun but also always careful and focused on safety - and super understanding. We will be coming back for sure!!
As a result of the AMAZING time we had scuba diving with Sub Now, we will now take a full course to get the certification - we live in Canada and will do it there, but if we had had more time at Elba Island we would 100% have done the full course with Sub Now. You guys rock and we can't wait to see you again for some more 'immersioni' in the coming years.

The team took very good care of us, explained everything we wanted to know and let us take the time we needed to feel comfortable. The center may seem small and has a familiar ambiance, but they are very professional and experienced. - BMN1 contributionMy family rented a rib from Sea Elba for an afternoon. We stayed in deep water the whole time yet when we returned the boat the renters immediately looked at the propeller (They knew exactly where to look) and said it had been broken by us so would not return the deposit. Apart from being totally fraudulent (no process followed eg no quote for damage, no receipt, cost for repair made up by them on the spot - mechanic they called in admitted to me he had not provided any quote), they were nasty and scarily aggressive and most importantly put us at risk with an unseaworthy boat.
