What a place, Came here after visiting the nearby lake. Paid the small fee to go inside the chuch, made of wood. Never seen a place like it but absolutely loved it. Well worth the visit

This was a great insight into the zinc,Gold, lead, iron, copper and bronze mining industry and the history of the mine which closed around 1989. Lots of walking and you get to experience what it was like in the early days for the miners and how they work and the machinery they used. Do take a light jacket as it is very cool and wear appropriate shoes.

This quaint town square is the beating heart of Goslar.
Surrounded by the townhall, town clock, hotels, shops, tourist information, cafes and restaurants, this is the place to see and experience when visiting.
Beautiful central fountain tops it off. It's a lovely meeting space and to just relax, preferably outside when the weather is nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of Goslar.

We have done this walk several times and really enjoy the nature and the view over the lakes. Here is quiet and nice and you can take different sidepaths either to shorten your walk or to see other parts of the forrested area and the mountain Bocksberg. This is great for walking any time of the year.

The Imperial Palace is so much part of Goslar it would be a shame to miss it. We took a cursory look at the palace grounds “as the snow lay deep about”, but we found a warm welcoming environment inside. We were pleased to have a self guided tour available in English. The lower floor had some special features of note but the Main Hall was breathtaking in its magnificence. We just sat …and absorbed …and gazed out the windows at the town below. We briefly visited the chapel as it was icy cold, but I could have sworn the Gregorian chanters were real. It was a beautiful touch. I would love to have explored more of the place but that was all. Still worth the time in my opinion.

This was amazing addition to Goslar. The view from the top after climbing at least 200 or so steps, made it all worthwhile. A must when in Goslar . Costs about €3 per person.

What a wonderful way to explore the history of Goslar in this 500 year old building with these dioramas of exquisite detail. From the natural history of the area to the development of the mining, village life, imperial court life and everything in between these dioramas delight. The lady at the desk went out of her way to accommodate our lack of German and would have assisted us to cast our own tin figures if we wanted. Can’t speak highly enough of this museum. So glad we went.

We were surprised by these towers, we were just walking and discovered them. Part of the old walls of the historic city of Goslar.

I waited from 2:45pm to hear and possibly see the figurines come out and dance at 3:00pm on the dot.
The music went on for quite a long time but the figures didn't appear.
Apparently in winter, the figures don't make an appearance.
Drat. I wish I had seen it. But the music was lovely nonetheless.

The Harz mountains had a stuffy image for many years. It is not stuffy anymore. A lot of work has been made on creating activities and sports. Hahnenklee is a good example for outdoor activities, bikíng, wandering, and they have an exiting rodelbahn. Several good restaurants too. Amd in Germany everything function.

This Abbey Church is a bit east outside town but worth a visit.
The architecture is simple but wonderful, in- as well as outside. It has a small chapel, small museum and a restaurant in the near vicinity. Also the surrounding is beautiful.
