Extensive cave complex with many stalactite formations. Expert guide knowledgeable in geology and English with sense of humour.

We had passed this Cantina a couple of years ago, but too late to visit. This time we didn't book but just arrived. The vending area is quite small but everything there that we were looking for plus, on hearing us talking to each other, a young man immediately asked us whether he could help ... in English!! We sort of listened in later to him talking to some other people, describing the wines and all. Sardinia - unfortunately - is not California where you could become quite inebriated wandering from one vineyard to the next. Here you need to book a visit and you are charged for it. But we already knew many of these wines .... and just wanted to stock up on some more! This was really easy. Plus they also carry take-away wine, described as red, white and pink. This we shall have to try in the future!

We had a bit of a search trying to find the entrance, we eventually thought we dis, but it turned out to be the backdoor... oh well...

In the area of Santadi are a lot of fantastic archaeological sites and I read a great article on the director of the museum of Santadi, so I had my heart set on going to the museum. I studied the website which gives great information on several sites in the neighbourhood. (we visited Montessu, Tattinu, Barrancu Mannu of which objects can be seen in the museum)

When arriving we noticed it is a really small museum (only 1 room) and emphasis seems to be on the laboratory (not for visitors) where last year students are attending a ceramic restauration course. You can get a tour of the museum for free and you can also book an excursion to the different archaeological sites, but at the ticket booth that's not really clear.

Still: the objects exposed here are interesting, but my advise: read up on them before visiting the museum. (Su Benatzu is remarkable!) Some of the finds are still in the National Museum in Cagliari and in the museum of Carbonia. You will probably benefit most of the knowledge gathered in this museum by booking an excursion to one of the excavations...

A bit of a steep climb but well worth it. Many different tombs with different styles and markings. Outstanding view over the countryside.

In the middle of the small town of Sardara lies the archaeological site of a water sanctuary. On top of part of the site stands the church of Sant'Anastasia, which gives a strange continuance of worship.

You can descend into the well and you can see the reamains of a nuragic village.

First excavations started in 1913 and were difficult because of the location.

It's not a big site, but interesting and well worth seeing in combination with the archaeological museum of Sardara
