Simply stunning. We stayed at Ayres Rock Resort for 3 nights and went on the Sacred Sites and Sunset Tour which I’ll probably review separately (both). There’s nothing more I can say about Uluru itself other than everyone should experience coming here at least once in their lifetime.

Very impressive walk to the viewing point. Think the trail is even nicer as the basewalk Uluru We were to late on the day simply too hot for doing the whole trail. Think it closed after 11 and 36 degrees

I loved this hike. Taking in the underrated and less famous Kata Tjuṯa the Valey of the Winds was a great hike.

The indication is 3-4hrs for the approx 7.4km and there are parts that are graded 4 and steep. The suggestion is you should have a certain level of fitness to undertake this.

I would definitely say that you need to bear in mind the impact heat will have on your fitness ability.

As with all things though fitness level & degree of difficulty are all subjective & relative to your experience.

There definitely are steep parts and my tracker brought the hike in at just under 7km. The heat does add a layer as I mentioned but that’s why I did the sunrise hike and followed the Hop On/Off drivers suggestion to take the right fork and get the steeper stuff done in the coolest part of the day. I did it in Australia’s summer so peak heat and it was indeed already 38 degrees by 8am.

There is a point near the first lookout where the track is closed once the temperature gets above 36 degrees so if you’re not beyond it by then you can’t carry on.

They indicate you should consume 1 litre of water for every hour you hike. I personally did not manage this but kept hydrated throughout. There are two points where you can refill your water on the route.

I carried sunscreen, hat, fly net, extra layer in case I was getting burned.

I wore shorts, trail shoes, tank top, headband & sunglasses. I was lucky that the flies weren’t too bad so didn’t need the pesky fly net. I had a backpack but just a day pack and kept it as light as I could within the safety indications as I didn’t want extra weight to add to the heat.

Hope you enjoy this hike as much as I did!

It was a free guided tour, started at 8:00 am.
The size of our group was ideal to this walk.
Our guide was a really nice indigenous man, who shared all his knowledge with us. We could ask questions and got the answers about his culture. The tour ended around 10:00 am. We were surprised that a tour like this is available for free.
    We highly recommend this tour.

I felt the significance of the place and the history here. The Mutitjulu Gorge and Waterhole are not to be missed.

Now this is a jaunt- harder and further than I expected and I was in boots. Some people passed us in trainers!

It’s fairly ok under foot unless it rains, then it’s a hold-onto-anything situation.

There are several metal walkways and steps to aid the traversing the rocks, but 99 percent of just you and the slope.

Well worth a visit, if only for the valley view behind you and the ensuing storms you can watch.

Great spot to take a break while walking around the rock. There's lots of greenery in this area to provide some shade. Definitely worth having a stop here!

After the Lungkata walk around part of Uluru, we did the Liru walk to the Cultural Centre and it's well worth a visit. As well as have a little cafe (useful after a long, hot walk), it has 2 galleries with a great range of locally made work. I particularly liked the carved snakes. Aparently they also offer free presentations by Anangu and park rangers. We didn't get to experience those but worth checking out.

    The team is absolutely lovely.
During our way to Uluru, the driver/guide even took us to one of the most iconic lookouts for us to enjoy the morning views.
Their bicycles are Sturdy, comfy and with a nice design.
The experience is definitely worth it!

Right from the moment I emailed them last minute to book the astro tour to the completion of the tour was done in a professional manner.
Our tour guide for the night was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the area and all things astronomy. We also got some memorable pics, shame the moon was so bright but still enjoyable. Highly recommend. Thank you!

My husband and I loved our stay here to see Uluru. It was a wonderful experience in Australia’s Red Centre.

Yulara is pretty much an entire “town” exclusively owned and operated by this company - airport included - so it’s a very controlled experience from beginning to end. HOWEVER, I mean this in a very positive sense. It is a great way to experience the outback for persons of all ages, backgrounds, and traveller comfort levels. We are the type of traveller that hate cruises and all-inclusive self-contained resorts, for example, but loved this experience. It’s one I would be happy to take my elderly parents to enjoy, or see families with children take. It’s fully guided but not oppressively so. Everything runs well, from airport transfers, to dining options, to tours. No confusion, no stress.

We stayed at the DESERT GARDENS and based on feedback from other travelers on excursions, I think a ROCK VIEW ROOM there is the way to go. I posted a video of our room on YouTube (which doesn’t really show how nice the view of Uluru is to the human eye). Sails in the Desert has the best lobby and more remodeled baths, but doesn’t have the views that Desert Gardens offers. For the best in room view, book there for sure. But all in all, each accommodation offers the same experience (Outback Lodge excepted, which is more separate).

The breakfast buffet was very good and exceeded my expectations. The local IGA was good for takeaway snacks and drinks, and the prices and selection for local art on site was just as good as the park cultural centre itself. All of the staff were lovely. The tour guides were exceptional.

We did several bookings, and the SOUNDS OF SILENCE dinner was our favorite. A high recommendation.

We would definitely recommend this location even if it is a monopoly for accommodations at Uluru/Kata Tjuta. It doesn’t feel that way and still offers a great experience.
