    Many very ancient articles from the Bronze age
    I was amazed of some Bronze age bronze articles, including safery pins very similar to modern ones. Also painted pottery and other small statues etc in very good condition. These are articles of a very progressive civilization 4000-5000 years ago. All the items were excavated in this island.

    See the horses
    The kids can also ride them. Nice to see them, and they seem to be looked after. There are volunteers from all over the world working on the farm. So language is no issue.

    It takes a bit of effort to climb all the uphill steps of Chora, which lead to the Castle, but the beauty you see compensates you.

    The journey is as important as the destination
    So we went off to find this tiny piece of history but along the way we discovered beautifully stark landscapes with unequaled scenery. The thousands of wild free range goats were everywhere. Such cute creatures with every single one of them looking different (unlike sheep) with their amazing colours, coat texture and length and of course those gnarly horns. The wild Skyrian Horses that also roam this area free and unfettered, are beautiful creatures and unaffected by our presence. Ahhh, but on to Rupert's Grave. A spectacular setting in a gultch and grove.It's location is a little odd but I guess it gets the tourists, like ourselves, to see some otherwise unvisited land. Definitely worth the effort to get there.

    I ❤️ Skyros
    One of my favorite shops for gifts… and self gifts. I’ve been coming to Skyros for years and this is my first shopping stop. The shop owner is delightful and very helpful.
