First off, there is easy access to plenty of other fun things to do along boardwalk at the beach. We have been to the wonderworks in pigeon forge, but wanted to take our kids to this one on family vacation.
Kids under 4 get in free, but for a 7 year old and two adults it was around $90. This location essentially had all of the same attractions as the pigeon forge location - but our kids liked it.
THINGS TO DO IN MUSEUM:
~ First off, let’s talk about THE TUNNEL as soon as you walk in - I was prepared as pigeon forge had the same thing. It is fun, but SERIOUSLY disorienting. As an adult you will stagger like you’ve had a fifth through the whole bridge. Try doing that while holding onto a young child’s hand who is confused and disoriented also. THERE IS A SEPARATE WALKWAY YOU CAN TAKE IF YOU HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT PROHIBIT YOU FROM DOING THIS, or if you don’t want to do it at all.
~ HURRICANE SIMULATOR - My kids wouldn’t walk in this as they were overly cautious and scared of the noise. My husband went in and held the pole, I went outside the door and my hair was still blowing completely sideways.
~ TITANIC WATER - there is a small titanic exhibit where you can put your hand in water that is as cold as when the titanic sank (you probably won’t make it ten seconds. Really. It was awful). There are also slopes for the times of the ships sinking.
~ CIRCLE BIKE - you and a partner can get on a contraption where you can pedal and the bike will go in a 360 circle.
~ BED OF NAILS - you can lie down on a bed of nails. Plastic covers the nails essentially, and then you or someone you know holds a button and the plastic sinks to the bottom, leaving you lying on a bed of nails. (I DID THIS AND IT DID NOT HURT {obviously} HOWEVER, THERE WAS A BIT OF PRESSURE ON MY UPPER BACK, ALMOST PINCHING LIKE. HOWEVER IT ONLY LASTED A FEW SECONDS AND IS NOTHING UNBEARABLE).
Lots of other random odds and ends like interactive child games, such as where your child can color an animal on paper and bring it to life on a screen by scanning it.
Lots of interactive and educational play.
It only took us around an hour and a half to go through because our kids are worry warts and like to be cautious.
Overall this is a very educational experience and if you haven’t tried it - it would be good entertainment for a few hours on a rainy day.
