Our tour experience with By Authentic Guatemala on 5/21/22 was nothing short of amazing. Our driver Luis was on time and was great company on the 2 hour drive from Antigua. The car was clean and he drove safely. He dropped us off at Lake Atitlan about an hour early allowing us time to eat breakfast and have coffee with the locals. Afterwards I was in need of Lotion and he went store to store with us searching for some. Our tour then began to Joel(Yo-el) and he was equally as amazing. We're so thankful to him for sharing his story and culture with us giving us. I would 10/10 recommend this service.

My friend Corey and I had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful cities of Antigua and Guatemala City. It was especially awesome because our English speaking tour guide, Esteban Calvillo, who was not only well informed in the the history of Guatemala, but he really enjoyed teaching foreigners on the history as well. Antigua is a traveler's favorite, well known for its cobblestone streets, volcano views, colonial architecture, and also it is the best known preserved Spanish Colonial city in Central America. Absolutely loved it. We also visited some of the main important areas in Guatemala City such as Mercado Central (central market) where we bought some fun handicrafts, blankets, and leather products at very affordable rates. We also visited the Palacio Nacional (National Palace) and took some photos and hung out with some locals. Finally, one of my places we visited was a place called Kaminaljuyu which is the site of the ancient Mayan civilization that dated back to 1500 B.C
Thanks Esteban for making this tour very very fun and insightful. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Guatemala!

A wonderful trip - very grateful that they were ok to do the tour just for me.

It was a great experience walking up and down and roasting marshmallows on the ground.

Highly recommend it - David was a superb guide, thank you!

We had a wonderful day on this tour. Weather was good and the towns we visited and the lake and scenery were lovely. We stopped for breakfast at a lovely restaurant and excellent food. Our guide David was fantastic.

Very nice tour. Carlos was our driver was very nice and Ruben our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable, we learned so much about Guatemalan history. Hobbitenango is amazing, very relaxing with nice places to take pictures. We have to take a truck to go up the very steep way to go to Hobbitenango, a little scary but the driver was very careful. Antigua is full of history, we love the cobblestone streets and the lunch included is very good at Las Antorchas. Thank you Ruben and Carlos for a very nice tour.

We were picked up fairly promptly by our guide at the hotel. The drice to Iximche took about 1 1/2 hours. It was up in green mountains on a ridge. There is a smal museum. The ruins have not been reconstructed. It was a very beautiful and interesting place. While there a groupshowed up. They had come to do a traditional ceremony at one of the altars. The priest had come from a village 8 hours away. Iximche translates to corn tree. It was another 1+ to Antigua. It is an old town with cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. There are many signs of the large earthquake that made the Spanish move the capitol to Guatemala City,

Unexpected last minute tour. My cousin and my friend arrived early to Guatemala city and they had booked this tour in advanced. I came late and she asked Luis our guide if he could wait for me so I was able to join last minute. He took us to several important sites and took plenty of pictures at night. We enjoyed our time with this tour!

We spent a pleasant time with Francisco, our very informative guide who showed us around Zona 1, the oldest part of Guatemala City. We received wonderful explanations of many churches and sites central to Guatemalan history. We shared a delicious corn pie and coffee at Leon coffee shop. We also tried and loved a savory special tamale with an herb found only in Guatemala. Overall a nice way to pass an afternoon.

    We would recommend Francisco.

This is a spectacular place. In this beach you will find turtles, eggs, black sand and good ocean. Perfect for kids and family members. Also is a romantic beach. The water is warm. There is a 2 or 3 hours from the city depending the traffic.

We had a wonderful day with Esteban. He was sure to communicate with us the day before to make sure that pickup was confirmed. He arrived in time and his car was clean and comfortable. Esteban is extremely well-versed in Guatemalan history and culture and not only was able to tell us about each place we visited but also was sure to point out all the interesting landmarks as we drove around the city. Since we were here during Semana Santa, he was able to coordinate watching one of the city’s many religious processions which would have been pretty overwhelming if we had tried to navigate it alone. Beyond his knowledge and professionalism, Esteban is just a really nice guy. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in Guatemalan history and culture and doesn’t have a lot of time in Guatemala City.

The whole trip was an experience. We were very fortunate to have a highly qualified guide who had actually worked on many Maya archeological digs and was well-acquainted with Maya culture in many places and really knew how things work at the border; the local guide in Copan was also an excellent speaker and gave us invaluable insight into the Mayan numerological system and the layout of the Copan site. The driver was very experienced and knew the route very well. Aside from the historical significance of Copan, with the many stelae and Mayan inscriptions, just walking beneath the gigantic jungle trees amidst the ruins was a dreamlike experience. Copan is a great compliment to the high-rising structures of Tikal. Walking through the ball court in Copan, not far from the stairway of inscriptions of kings gave real insight into the world presented in the Popol Vuh epic of the Maya. An incredible trip with great guides. One suggestion would be to organize the trip so that you stay the night in the lovely town of Copan Ruinas -- where we had a wonderful traditional dinner. The Copan trip is really a very full day as is-- but so well worth it.
