    A great local experience
    I was riding my motorbike near the area when it started to pour. It was rainy season and I pulled over by the road just in time to grab some dinner. Unlike the restaurants, you can eat the same kind of meal for nearly half of what you pay at touristy places. A popular venue among tourists and locals alike.
    Some of these stalls are unhygienic with flies on their food and are probably better to avoid.

    A great experience and yummy food
    We’ve been to Koh Samui many times, and so each time we come we try to do something or go somewhere new. A local recommended a visit to Nathon, the administrative capital of Samui, and the port town where ferries from the mainland arrive. From Chaweng, it’s about a 45 minute drive; we took a taxi which cost 800 baht each way. The drive itself is interesting, passing through the countryside and various local towns along the way.
    Nathon town itself isn’t not really on the tourist circuit, but it’s a good place for a stroll; blocks of old timber shop houses in various states of disrepair, one a green grocer, its neighbour a motorcycle repair shop, and so on. It reminds me of old Phuket town and has the same potential for semi-gentrification depending on the ongoing waxing and waning of Samui’s fortunes in the post Covid world. The main attraction of Nathon is the nightly food market nearby the pier, and it is super charming. It feels quite local and foreigners were in the minority when we visited. We did a circuit of all the different stalls before selecting fish cakes (because I have them everywhere) and spring rolls, and a whole grilled fish. The fish cakes were great - they were the dark, leathery, mean variety, tasty, chewy and streetwise. The grilled fish was really, really good - fresh, flavoursome, perfectly cooked. Everything was super cheap. Drink options were pretty much Fanta or water. There are tables and stools to perch at while you eat.
    After dinner, we walked to the end of the pier and enjoyed the sunset, and also paused to watch a group of tourists attempt disembarking a dinner cruise along an alarmingly narrow and unpredictably wobbly gang plank. Luckily, there were no casualties.
    After that we had a Singha beer at a neighbourhood bar, and then went into a supermarket to load up on Thai snack foods (who can resist spicy lobster flavoured potato chips?) before meeting our taxi driver at the appointed time in front of the administration building.
    We felt satisfied, sun-kissed, and a little grimy. Excellent.

    Not worth the vist
    Lots of closed stores. Nor really worth the visit. At least not when the there is no Night Market. If so it can ben nice but very crowded

    Very quiet
    We have visited this market nearly every day and on the first day there were a good few stalls open but over the days… for example the mango and sticky rice woman wasn’t back there! The food stalls especially did some amazing peanut and chicken with rice… for 50 Bahts that’s about £1.25…decent portion for a very little bit of money

    Amazing custom tailor men’s suit
    Ash Tailor in Koh Samui made a great custom suit with amazing quality and attention to detail. I’ll definitely get more suits and shirts from Ash in the future as he is very professional and easy to work with.

    Hidden Gem
    The venue is a little hidden, only a small sign on the main road is pointing the way. The market is covered with a big roof and a lot of stands are displaying all sorts of food. I was the only tourist there, maybe because of the opening hours. The market starts at 4:00 AM and goes until 10:00 AM.

    We went for a ride there as it was near Tesco, It was okay for a look and even bought a couple of things. It would be best to combine going there as well as Tesco as they are on the same road about 2-3 kms apart.

    About 20 shops and stalls max on a Monday night. Didn’t feel like it would expand on other days but may be wrong. Bits of pieces to buy and fair range that is available in other locations. Examples/ carved soaps, wooden bowls, Samui art work (prints), Muay Thai shorts, coconut shell bowls, ornaments, etc. Good for a quick wander and squint at the wears but nought else unless in the market that kind of thing.

    Visit if you like local
    A local market right by the sea. Between Maenam and Big Buddha temple.
    Lots of fresh seafood on sale from 9am onwards. There is a cooking station that opens from 10am to 6pm daily. You can buy from the market, get your seafood cleaned and get it cooked for you for a fee. You much fresher seafood and you pay a fraction of what you will pay compared to the seafood restaurants.

    11/10, The BEST Tailor in Koh Samui
    By far the best Tailor in Koh Samui! This was my second time visiting Timmy’s for a tailored suit and I couldn’t be happier! Tater and his dog Yoda were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure my suit was to the highest possible quality, after 2 fittings, I was over the moon with my suit, if anyone’s wanting to get anything tailored in Koh Samui, Timmy’s is the place to go!
