- Penny T5 contributionsIt was okay. Glad I went but not sure I’d go again if I went back again but maybe. Coffee place was great. Stands were good. Bought some wood whistles that the engraved names on plus necklaces were she wrote names on rice and put inside what ever you picked out. Very cheap souvenirs.Written 3 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- H D1 contributionThe description of Bao Dai's palace on Trip Advisor is factually incorrect: "Bao Dai was ousted by Ho Chi Minh in 1945."
Correction: On September 2, 1945, Uncle Ho declared independence from the French and the most recent occupiers, the Empire of Japan. (After the dropping of US nuclear bombs, Japan surrendered to the Allied powers in August 1945.) Bao Dai abdicated to Ho Chi Minh's party, the Viet Minh, and handed over the official seals to the communists. Seeing how Bao Dai, the 13th emperor of the Nguyen dynasty was still influential and symbolic of Vietnam's history, Ho Chi Minh asked Bao Dai to become an advisor to the newly formed Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) as a private citizen. Bao Dai agreed to this arrangement initially although he ended up self-exiled to Hong Kong soon after. Four years later, Bao Dai returned as the Chief of State (not king or emperor) under the Associated States of France (French reclaimed Vietnam militarily twenty days after Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the DRV). He attempted to use his influence for Vietnam's independence from France, with limited success.Written 23 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Could possibly have spent longer than an hour.Written 23 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
