- H D1 contributionThe description of Bao Dai's palace on Trip Advisor is factually incorrect: "Bao Dai was ousted by Ho Chi Minh in 1945."
Correction: On September 2, 1945, Uncle Ho declared independence from the French and the most recent occupiers, the Empire of Japan. (After the dropping of US nuclear bombs, Japan surrendered to the Allied powers in August 1945.) Bao Dai abdicated to Ho Chi Minh's party, the Viet Minh, and handed over the official seals to the communists. Seeing how Bao Dai, the 13th emperor of the Nguyen dynasty was still influential and symbolic of Vietnam's history, Ho Chi Minh asked Bao Dai to become an advisor to the newly formed Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) as a private citizen. Bao Dai agreed to this arrangement initially although he ended up self-exiled to Hong Kong soon after. Four years later, Bao Dai returned as the Chief of State (not king or emperor) under the Associated States of France (French reclaimed Vietnam militarily twenty days after Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the DRV). He attempted to use his influence for Vietnam's independence from France, with limited success.Written 23 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This huge mansion, turned museum, is very well organized. I found fascinating the archeological excavations and finds. I appreciated learning more about local hill tribe cultures. It ended up honoring the revolution and then tempering that with how welcoming they are of foreign visitors today. The price was very reasonable at 15,000d.Written 19 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Joost2 contributionsChef Son took us to the market, which was quite the experience in itself, and explained everything really clearly. We learned a lot about Vietnam, its people and the culture. I don’t think we have eaten better anywhere in our entire stay in Vietnam than what we cooked with chef Son.Written 16 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very proper indeed. We also met a lot of super friendly new people. If you are looking for fun, this is definitely a great place to go.
During the night, my iPhone slipped out of my pocket and I lost it. Luckily, the bar owner found my phone and was so honest to return it to me when I started looking for it. I really didn’t expect to get my phone back, but all staff are so friendly. Also no money scams when you buy your drinks (not even towards drunk people), they just want you to have a great time. And we certainly did!Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Phoebe TrangHanoi2 contributionsImpressed by: the atmosphere, the warm wooden decoration, the nice staff, the massage. The lady who massaged for me was wonderful. She had not too rough and not too light pressure while doing the massage for me. The touch was delicate.
I chose: foot massage combo with: massage, foot bath (which is awesome <3) and head+shoulder massage. I felt totally relaxing from the moment I came inside the spa, being offered a smelling-good warm cup of tea, being guided by a nice receptionist staff and being massaged.
ONE BIG TIP is: you should call to reserve the place early. ^_^Written 17 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
