This was a pleasant surprise. In the middle of crazy Saigon are all these beautifully maintained green spaces with paths, coffee shops, things for kids and exercise stations. So green and peaceful to walk through to catch your breathe and a few degrees cooler which is nice. Lots of people there sitting with takeaway drinks catching up with friends. A really nice spot.

    Monkey Island Eco Forest Park

I went on a Monday and there were hardly any other tourists. The park has several attractions: (1) the monkeys themselves, which you only see around the entrance to the park; (2) a crocodile farm; (3) a restored Viet Cong military base; (4) and a boat ride around the area, which looked fun, but which seemed expensive. It is 600,000 vnd per boat, probably worth it if you’re with a group. The highlight was definitely the Viet Cong base. Most of the path is covered by a canopy of trees, which made it much more comfortable under the midday sun. There is a restaurant on site. It’s overpriced and mediocre, but will do the job if you’re famished like I was after walking around for a couple of hours.

You can take a tour, go by motorbike, or go on by public transport like I did (which does involve some walking):

GETTING TO AND FROM CAN GIO/MONKEY ISLAND FROM HO CHI MINH CITY BY BUS AND FERRY:
    (1) Bus # 20 from Ham Nghi station (5 minutes walking from Ben Thanh market) to Binh Khanh bus station (Bến xe buýt Bình Khánh). This is the last station on route 20.
    (2) Walk from the Binh Khanh bus stop to the ferry (5 minutes)
    (3) Take the ferry to Cần Giờ. This is about 15-20 minutes long
    (4) Get off the ferry, walk to the bus and get on bus # 90. If you walked past the Cao Dai temple on the opposite side, you’ve walked too far. Ask the bus driver or conductor to notify you when the bus arrives at Monkey Island (which isn’t technically an island), otherwise you’ll miss the stop.
    (5) Walk from the Monkey Island bus stop to the park, which should take 15-20 minutes.
    .
GETTING FROM MONKEY ISLAND TO THE BEACH IN CAN GIO. It’s only about 4 more kilometers to get to the beach. Again, if you’re on foot, wait for bus 90, which runs about every 15-20 minutes. You’ll get off at the next to the last stop (again, tell the driver you want to go to the beach), and then you’ll need to walk about 1 kilometer to get to the beach. Check out the seaside restaurants while you're there. I highly recommend the salted shrimp.

It seems well kept and there is an area for kids with exercise machines. Nice to stroll around and see the world go by.

Airport taxi lane is marked but there is a plain marked car at the front , do not take this taxi always take a genuine mailin or vinisun taxi . I was on my own and got swayed into a plain taxi ..." do not make the same mistake I made as they just want to count your money on the way out of the airport and rip you off , very annoying .

A visit with ups and downs.

We got there in the morning before it got too hot (which is a must). It’s very easy to find and it cost 60k Dong each (which is cheap). It was a bit confusing to navigate around as I couldn’t find any maps. We got to feed monkeys and elephants for a small fee to buy food.

Some of the enclosures are very depressing and is definitely not how I would house these animals but this is a less developed country so you can not expect the same as a zoo from home. The Zoo was also rather dirty and did smell a bit like rubbish.

There is also some carnival rides including a Ferris wheel for 40k each which lets you see over a lot of Ho Chi Minh City.

Overall a mediocre experience but I would still recommend going.

I first came here in 1998 and every visit I make an effort to enjoy the Sau Rieng smoothie and every time they look at me like a crazed foreigner. So they give me a small spoon of Durian ice cream and I go yum! And then explain I’ve been coming here for 20 years. That aside if you like durian you’ll love their Sau Rieng smoothie. Ice cold with just the right component of durian. Great on a sticky humid HCMC day.

What I like about HCM is that this is a green city. Lots of small parks just to stroll around without all the traffic. What is not very nice is all the plastic on some grounds. Pls keep it clean.

Walked here from War museum for a look, lots of tourists taking photo shoot on the steps with the flowers all blooming. Has some seating around the "lake" part but most of it is in the sum and it was scorching hot. There are loads of street food vendors around and some great banh mi carts. Worth a look, the water was pretty gross and grimy. Lots of cafes around too.

Well lovley gardens vegetation but (hot) I have never been so close up to zoo animals that amazed me.i seen a turtle with a problem with the caring keepers and the treatment impressive. The bear was happy eating up close to me I was astonished .I am a au sheep farmer.so different from our our code of animal welfare. My only concern was the elephant's enclosure it was so small sad.veitnarm is still learning and improving .I enjoyed it but I hope with education and help it will definitely improve.i did see the keepers them selves were dedicated to the animals

This is a really nice space to meet with friends in the evening and just relax and chat while having some food or a drink. It's a very chilled space and attracts lots of locals just taking time out during their day. Many people also come here to just play the guitar or walk to exercise. A really nice space.

Surrounded on all sides by the busy and stressful roads that make up the city centre, this is a nice and decently sized park but not exactly what you’d call tranquil. Worth a visit if you need a break and a sit down.

If you have time to spare the Culture Park is a nice get away from the busy city.
It's a nicely laid out park with lovely gardens and sculptures dotted around the park for added interest.
There's a couple of places to get food/ drink on the edges of the park & it seemed to be a nice family park where you would see locals & tourists alike.
