Surreal and humbling experience walking through Old City Jerusalem. No matter your religion, please take the time to tour this city. It is vast with lots of history, architecture, and culture. I would actually opt for a tour guide for this city, as there is just so much going on. Wear comfortable shoes and pack your patience! Lots of walking and many many people.

Nice to walk this area. Lots of nice things to look at and buy in the stalls. Friendly people to talk to. We walked through on our way to and from the Holy Sepulchre.

The Haas promenade offers a sweeping view of Jerusalem. If you’re after a daylight view, try to go on a clear, sunny day. We visited around noon, and with the sun to our back, the contrast of blue sky against the white buildings was spectacular! A plaque points out the major landmarks. The old and the new, with several thousand years of history in between – stretched out in front of you!

I started the walk from Jaffa Gate. On my four days of walking around the Old City, I saw only a few people going on the Ramparts Walk. Viewing the walls, I could see that there appears to be a number of walls built on top of walls. This is in part because with changes in the empires which ruled over Jerusalem, such as the Ottomans, Muslims, Christian crusaders, the Israelite chieftain Solomon, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs. Many of the rulers modified the city walls and temples to their own liking. Thus, the walls have a lot of history behind them. From the upper walls, I had great views of the Old City on one side, and the new on the other.

    "I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
.... with four boys ages 5 to 14. It was hot and sunny- we started on the surround and circle Mount Strong hike, which is on a wide jeep road but it has total sun exposure. We didn't have the time nor supplies (and the boys didn't have the interest nor resilience) to complete the loop of more than two hours, so we did enjoy our adventure, but we turned back.... full disclosure- the same thing happened two other times in the past year- failed attempts with young charges.

    ADVICES
This is certainly a well-organized and well equipped and famous nature reserve. As such, it is a good holiday spot and a good place for hiking in nature, but not far from the city of Jerusalem. I certainly endorse and recommend a visit to here.

Depending on what path you follow, you may wind up underneath the church to view one of the stations and then come up the stairs inside it. The church interior is fairly plain and no picture taking is permitted.

Cotton merchants gate leads to row of souvenior shops . along with shops that sell Quran kareem.Shop keepers are freindly. Along with this entrance to temple mount there are security check points at all the gates. They expect you to know a few verses from Quran.before entering the holy place.
