In summary- waterfall/atrium is impressive and a must see. Rest of Jewel is an expensive mall that can be skipped. Plan your visit strategically if an airport passenger or you can get stuck on the wrong side of the glass or dealing with luggage hassle.

The waterfall atrium is impressive, no question that you need to see it if you are in Singapore or passing through Changi Airport. HOW you visit it is the difference in experience. The Jewel is really the waterfall/atrium surrounded by a giant mall that attracts what feels like half of Singapore. So the bulk of the people there will be locals slowly wandering around a mall, not travelers lugging their suitcases.

The suspended walkway, hedge maze, canopy climb and anything else they can think of is now a ticketed experience (quite expensive for the relative product). All the stores in the mall are high-end, not sure why any traveler would want to actually shop there, but the locals do.

The Jewel is outside immigration, so A) if you are transiting Changi Airport, you actually have to leave to visit the atrium, otherwise the best you can do is the SkyTrain which passes through the atrium (T1-T2 or T1-T3). Make sure you have the necessary time and paperwork to do so. B) if you are staying in Singapore, visit the Jewel before you head into the Terminal and pass through immigration. This can be done by early bag drop at Changi L1 (only if traveling to an approved country, and USA isn't one of them) or by visiting the Jewel without dragging your luggage along (think of it as a tourist attraction and go hands free) or be prepared for a TON of hassle dragging your luggage around.

We made the mistake of going hours before our flight, only to find we couldn't drop our luggage at the Jewel Early Check-in because USA isn't approved by Singapore Airlines for it. So luggage storage cost us S$40 for 3 pieces. The bridge from Jewel to T3 for example is VERY VERY long and crowded with locals connecting from the MRT. It was a huge pain and Changi signage actually was surprisingly lacking.

Light show was nothing special. Go see Spectra at the Marina instead.

What Singapore is about. Relaxed, casual, sophisticated and busy.

Great place to eat and drink and take in the riverside.

The place where many will have their fondest memories of Singapore.

We had never been to Vivo City before and only went there to cross over to Sentosa by train. As it was raining we spent a couple of hours at the mall and there is quite a good selection of shops. Only on the restaurant side the variety was so so, could have been better. In general lots of the international brands are there, lay out of the mall is quite good to wonder around, and it is easy to reach.

Massive mall for all the luxuries in the world. If you need to browse and buy top end luxuries everyday, then this is the mall for you.

Plenty choices to eat too, from food court to obnoxious TV chefs, if that is your thing.

One of the sights of Singapore and the world.

So much stuff packed into a huge department store. Nothing posh about this place - takes you back in time. You’ve got to visit! No windows anywhere, so I felt claustrophobic - especially as the store is jammed pack with goods and people after a bargain.

Probably the best mall along orchard road, and rivals the marina bay sands mall. It has all the luxury and non luxury shopping you would ever want, and more. Many restaurants and cafes as well of course. Plus art galleries, singapore airlines office, and ATMs

Huge mall. So big it’s serve by 2 MRT stations on the same line: Promenade and Esplanade.

Many, many shops throughout, even a post office.

Numerous food clusters and food courts on all levels. Very busy for office traffic during the day, pleasantly quieter thereafter.

If you exit through Esplande, you can walk all the way to city hall and Funan Mall.

I thought that the Raffles hotel boutique was fantastic, - a great collection of nice things to choose from, and my husband enjoyed reading about the story of the hotel on a wall there. But the other stores in the Arcade are luxury brands of watches, photography and up on the first floor even furniture store which I am not interested in during a holiday.

…in which you can find loads of great places to eat, plenty to buy and go between different parts of the local area. Nothing architecturally impressive necessarily but good for shopping and easy to get out too (not always a given in Singapore, especially on Orchard Road).

Impressively large with down to earth stores that you actually want to visit.

So much shopping and eating, you’d want to spend a day here. I did.

Almost every you’ll need can be gotten here. And easily accessible by subway.

The Tekka Centre has everything that someone could imagine…clothing, trinkets, food, prepared food, crickets, spiders and all sorts of exotic fruits and food. It’s a great place for a snack and to just wander around and see how everyday life moves in Singapore.

The outlet is a bit out of the city center. The selections and prices are the same in Suntec City. The shopping center is the same as other shopping centers. I would shop in Orchard or Suntec instead.

We were in the area and had a walk around this shopping centre. There are lots of shops and some restaurants. The shopping centre links to other shopping centres and others are just a few minutes walk down the road. The place is good to have a walk around

Marina Square is similar to a number of the other places like Raffles. Thought I would say a bit more down market compared to Raffles.
Still well set out, clean with lots of variety that is different to Raffles City.
Access via the Marina link from Carlton Hotel and the Mass Transit System and buses outside makes it easy to access. All signs are in English
