Even for a local like myself, the exhibitions on the 3rd and 4th levels of the building about the Indian community in Singapore both past and present are refreshing as they relate the contributions made by this minority community as well as the rich experiences they came with when many of these ones migrated over to Singapore in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Ground floor has a timeline and examples of equipment used over the first hundred years of the Fire Service.

The center specializes in printmaking and pushing the boundaries of that art form. Also, has artists in residence producing work, and finally offers works for sale. - shinraemonsamSydney, Australia969 contributionsOne of SG's oldest galleries, celebrating 20 years in 2017, and only one single review (a Wiki bio) and no update regarding the new premises. Fair enough, I guess you dont come to SG for the art, and this ain't The Louvre.
It is a good galley though, if only a little out of the way, down by the port.
To make the most of your efforts and make the inconvenient location worthwhile, here are a few tips.
• Check the webpage and call ahead to make sure the gallery is open with an exhibition
• Match your visit time with the hours of Artspace at Helutrans (in the same building)
• Enjoy the amazing BKT nearby, it is an institution
• Travel by bike

It is a charity and therefore relies on donations and the support of the public and private sectors. They exist to give artists a rare opportunity to showcase their work without the motive of profit. In a money-driven society like Singapore, the Private Museum is refreshing in its approach, and worth supporting. - BluesphynxSingapore1,680 contributionsWith great trepidation made my way to the new site of SAM as my last visit had been fraught with anxiety over the industrial factory location which was hard to access, and dangerous for anyone over 60 years old, and impossible for the wheelchair bound or visually- handicapped.
This time it was even worse as the ramp was under construction and the side-gate no longer there so you couldn't slip in from the bus-stop or exit through it. After walking endlessly in the hot sun, and at one point under a swaying construction gondola, you come to the end, descend and
walk further until you reach the elusive entrance . I only found it after asking a kind and helpful worker who happened to be there.
The current art installations are very good indeed, original, visually impressive and with a profound message and backstory. A pity all these have to be housed in such an unfriendly and inaccessible location. One of the staff attendants/guards was most forthcoming in helping to direct me to the relevant rooms and was even willing to share his insights, the others not quite so.
