What travellers are saying
- Cynthia S4 contributionsThis is a wonderful art gallery/ museum. Carlos was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He told us many things about Panamanian art, artists and history in a very relaxed manner. This is a place were you can relax and enjoy many types of artwork in addition to paintings there are also sculptures, carvings and textiles. In my opinion this is a place you wouldn’t want to miss while in Panama City!Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- phuttyTallinn, Estonia1,251 contributionsThe museum is currently hosting an exhibition of works entitled 'Una Invasión in 4 Tiempos/An Invasion in 4 Tenses' marking the 30th anniversary of the US invasion of Panama in 1989. Many of the pieces from the 'ManiObras/MANeuvers' series by local artist Isabel de ObaldÃa, inspired by the events preceding, during and following the invasion, have pride of place; I was particularly taken with her painting 'Desterrado/Exiled'. The video art by Donna Conlon and Jonathan Harker also engaged me, which such installations rarely do.
We were welcomed on arrival by a very friendly member of staff with excellent English who gave us a rundown of the exhibition and informed us that admission was free but that donations were welcome. Needless to say we popped some dollars in the box before we left.
The museum is small and manageable: we spent just over an hour exploring its spaces. Since it is neither downtown nor in Casco Antiguo, we decided the easiest way to get to and from it would be by Uber.Written 26 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Susan A165 contributionsWe stumbled upon Karavan while exploring in Panama City. The selection of items is carefully curated, and although the prices slightly reflect this, they are better quality than some street stall curios. The staff was informative and helpful.Written 2 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SharonBBPanama City, Panama182 contributionsGaleria Arteconsult has long been an exceptional gallery in Panama, founded by Carmen Aleman and now directed by her daughter, art historian, Ana Berta Carrizo. Each exposition is of highest quality, including the current retrospective of the art and career of Coqui Calderon, an important Panama artist and supporter, like arteconsult, of developing artists in Panama. A visit to arteconsult is inspiring and always a learning experience. It's in the San Francisco neighborhood north of Calle 50. Recommended for anyone who appreciates fine art!Written 13 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SambuquitaBabyMiami, FL1 contributionI recently visited Panama and never expected to bring home a piece of fine art. However, I was drawn into DGriss Art Gallery by some beautiful pieces. I went in to just take a look and was so pleasantly surprised by the owner speaking perfect English to me. I met her artist husband, who also speaks perfect English, and had such an interesting and knowlegable conversation about the art, the artists and what to keep in mind during the buying process...I left with a gorgeous piece of art for my living room! They even shipped it home for me without any problems! I highly recommend visiting the gallery on your trip to Panama!Written 16 May 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GinnyAtSkiPCUtah42 contributionsThis is BY FAR the best art gallery in Panama. They are responsive, have knowledge of their art/artists, and our purchase arrived perfectly. Gretchen and Guillermo are just a delight. We tried to buy art at Imagen Gallery but failed due to the fact that they never even sent the information on the painting I wanted--after numerous phone calls and emails--apparently they are not in the business of selling! Dgriso Art Gallery had no current phone number, Apriori Galleria de Arte also never sent me a picture of the piece we liked. Weil Art Gallery is pleasant but not for collectors of oil paintings.Written 9 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- qliz10Panama City, Panama1 contributionThis a great place to find special and alternative gifts made by local artists and entrepreneurs. All their products capture the essence of the Panamanian culture with a modern twist. Wether you're in town for a few days or you a resident, make sure you go to Super Mini, I promise you won't be disappointed!
Also they always host events that enlighten local artists as well as folklore and culture.Written 30 May 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - trishL006Mission Viejo, CA36 contributionsThis store had the largest selection by far of wood carvings, masks, clothing, all the indigenous crafts you're looking to buy. Prices were similar to most others. Quality is good but I ended up wanting something a little higher end.Written 28 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
