Stayed inside the old town -an orange color little kingdom for a week. Situated right next to the Škurda River and Bay of Kotor to the North, West and part South, backed by castles, mountains and high walls to the East.
It's so pretty, I wanted to take my time instead of killing myself this time. But It was impossible. I almost passed out the day I left; collapsed on the bus with an all aching body and legs hoping to recuperate when my bus gets to Albania.

It took 3 days to just find my bearings around. Still unsure at the end if there were 4 or 5 big gates linking by high walls. By the way, it was a smoker's Paradis. A packer of cigarette is 10 times cheaper than what you pay in Aust.

We have done the road trip with a car which give flexibility to stop for visits or to enjoy the view. The only roadtrip that competes with Kotor Bay's is Big Sur's in California. Yes it is that beautiful... apart from the full time beautiful scenery, several stops are worthwhile : Kotor of course, Perast, and Sveti Stefan were our preferred. For lunch, Perast is a good option. Pick a sunny day for this trip!

The views from the walls are fantastic. Visited in February and there was no one to purchase a ticket from, also the western-most entrance (marked “A” on the map) was closed. While the views were incredible, it was really sad to see how much trash has been left up there and that nothing seems to really be done about cleaning it up.

We did a private tour with Mont Travel (owner/operator Dimitrije Jovicic) and one of our stops was this lookout that provided a beautiful view of Kotor and the entire peninsula that our cruise ship sailed in from the Adriatic Sea.

Pretty little church that has an upstairs section with artifacts and archways to look out onto the town square. The main floor has elaborate alters all around the outside. There are silver religious artifacts, textiles and more upstairs.

Beautiful square inside of the walled city that sets the scene. A nice place to find a restaurant, sit and people watch or where you can start a little self-guided walking tour.

One of the access gates in Old town. Quite well preserved. You can climb up on it for a beautiful view of the area. From here, you can continue your route along the crest of the wall, along the seashore. The view is beautiful.

Every old town has a clock tower (IMHO) and this one dates back to 1602. There is a lower level (subterranean) to the tower's upper floors. It was in this lower level the tower that the reinforcements were added after the 1979 earthquake caused destabilization.

The pillory in front of the tower would have made a spectacle out of offenders who were chained to the pillory as their punishment (and were subject to abuse).

From the tower, 4 major streets go in 4 directions. Find this treasure in the Square of Arms.

We actually liked the sea gate the best, but this one was no slouch either. Right next to the wall and the tower, its a great way to go in the city!

Another of the many small churches that are in Kotor. The dominant feature of this church is undoubtedly the baroque altar decorated with statues of St. Clare and St. Francis. If you pass by, be sure to check it out.

As a photographer, I was looking for a customized tour focusing not only on city- and landscapes, but also the living heritage, culture and monasteries of Montenegro. Pava helped plan a fantastic, highly customized tour, patiently discussing all the details over weeks and arranging all the extra special requests I had (portrait photos of Boka Navy, a couple in the traditional costume, visiting Gusle Maket, shepherds etc. etc.).

For 6 days we then toured the country with Slavko, who was always up for a joke, always knowledgeable and always going the extra mile to arrange some extra photo opportunities. The only regret we have are that we didn‘t have more time in beautiful Montenegro!

360 Monte, keep it up, you did amazing! Pava and Slavko, thank you for the fantastic tour!

A truly wonderful family experience with Tim, Mollie and Bertie aboard the Monty B! We booked a 5-hour trip and Tim took us expertly around the bay and shared lots of local history which made the trip even more special to have the chance to learn more about this beautiful place! Very highly recommend this experience to others visiting the area!

We had such a fun day on this tour! I had gotten my count wrong and they accommodated an extra person at no charge which was so appreciated. We were on a day trip from a cruise so we were limited on time. I'm so happy we decided to book this tour as it gave us a great blend of activities. We toured Kotor, visited Perast, and drove to visit a local family's olive grove. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable, he gave us a great history of his country and people and made us all want to come back and spend several days exploring Montenegro. The drive itself was also just beautiful. Highly recommend this company! Thank you so much for giving us a day we won't forget.
