Much cleaner in the food area that the market in Vientiane. Has some good music going and vendors are not overly pushy. Not a huge variety for sale. Loved the fixed store on the end by the food part that sold flavored whiskey - great small bottles ideal for gifts for family back home.

This bustling and vibrant market is located right next to the Mekong River, in the alleyways off Sisavangvong Road. This morning market is where locals go for their daily groceries, fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, fish, and flowers. We enjoyed exploring this market and seeing the people as they shopped. Everything is fresh. You'll definitely find something to buy from this market but act quickly—it closes at 10:30 AM. Enjoy yourself!

Wonderful space sharing information about the Lao Friends Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang. Sales help support this important service for local families. Easy to find across from the Dara market. Staff is friendly and helpful. A short video tells you more about the hospital and its work.

We had an absolutely amazing day taking a both silk weaving and embroidery classes today at Ock Pop Tok!

This place is heaven on the Mekong for anyone interested in arts and crafts. We learned the incredible beauty and amount of work and talent that goes into Laotian textiles. We made our own masterpieces, had a beyond delicious lunch, all overlooking the Mekong and surrounded by the colorful art and smiling helpful staff.

We would highly recommend the classes, restaurant and shop here at the living arts center- truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Happened to be at the night market and saw some great looking t shirts. Long story short the salesman was the designer of the t shirts
Had a long conversation with the owner who donates monies from his sales to help young girls in their education goals. He was very proud of his undertaking and he should be. Good luck in the future as you will be rewarded for your undertaking .

This is a store full of history, both the objects and personal of the owner. Granted it is not a store for everyone, yet if you are a collector, this is the place for you. The owner is gracious, she told storied of every object there.

A real asian market with only two other foreigners while we were there. The described meat market a normal part of these local markets and for us clearly one of the cleaner ones we have seen. The overall market well set up and clean throughout, with soft spoken sales people. We had a pleasant stroll through and bought both clothing and food items and at a lower price than in the town center for sure.

I had the pleasure of visiting Khinthong Lao Silk Shop earlier today and it exceeded my expectations. The owner Khin and her husband were very hospital and gracious in explaining the items and the traditions and motifs. The quality and workmanship of the products are superb. I highly recommend that you give them a visit when you are in Luang Prabang.

Just in case you don't have a chance to go out to the LIving Craft Centre on the river, the shop is right in the middle of town. It's a mini museum of Lao craft and textiles with lovely things displayed for inspection and sale in an old traditional building in a lovely garden with a cafe appended.
If you do want to expand your Ock Pop Tok experience, then there is a free tuktuk standing by to whisk you out there and bring you back. Just ask the sales staff.
There are clean toilets on site also.
