- Bandongzki TravelsLa Union Province, Philippines168 contributions🇱🇦Wat Visoun also known as Wat Wisunarat in Luang Prabang Laos
It was originally built in 1512 by King Visounnarath (who ruled Laos from 1501 until 1520). The That Pathum, or the Stupa of the Great Lotus, was built in 1514 by Queen Phan Tee Xieng (King Visounnarath's wife). The stupa is also known as That Mak Mo, which means "Watermelon Stupa", because of the dome at the top that resembles a watermelon. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang and served as the city's Museum of Religious Arts. You can see religious artifacts and precious items related to Buddhism and the royal family.
