What travellers are saying
- Andrew YSingapore, Singapore5,135 contributionsWhile this temple is historically and symbolically very important, the temple itself was destroyed by wars and this is a 20th century reconstruction. This temple is on the tourist itinerary so it may get crowded. Laotian Kings are required to be crowned at Wat Xieng Thong but the last king, Sisavang Vatthana, did not do so for some reason. The temple is decorated with mosaics with meaningful stories (e.g. Parables of Siaosawat, a Laotian hero).
There is a golden statue of a monk that a China Tour guide said is a mummified monk but I could not verify.Written 26 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was nobody else on the complex, just a young monk inside where you can sign in. There is no entree fee but you can give a donation. Inside are beautifull Darwins, and jou can club up, four stories high. The fourth floor can be reached by a very small and steep stairs. It is to small to stand on this floor or reached it with more then one person at the time. From the first floor there is a nice view over Luang Prabang.Written 31 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vikki GPeterborough, Canada211 contributionsI really liked this temple. It’s very quiet, relaxed and free of charge to visit. I wandered around for a while and saw only one other person. There are more than one set of stairs in to the grounds as well.
It’s very beautiful.Written 28 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
