This small museum is free to visit and raises your understanding of the UXO siuation faced by the Laotian people. There are some very emotional videos showing how UXO victims became injured.

It shouldn't take more then an hour. Worth going, particualrly in wet weather.

Spent the 2nd week in May in Luang Prabang. Temperature was up in the 40s with high humidity so not much in the way of hiking done. Used a bicycle to get around the town. The north end had the more expensive bars/hotels/restaurants.
Food from the night market was great.
The Laos people are so nice and laid back. Do you know that having spent 3 weeks in Laos…. We never heard a single car or scooter horn!!!!!!! Love it

This is a really beautiful place to come and see how traditional, richer people used to live. Beautifully set out, good information and a nice café to get drinks and snacks.

This is the oldest continuously running temple in Lao. It is a rebuild after the original building made of wood was burnt by Black Haw riders in 1887. Adjacent is Wat Aham. When I visited in Sept 2019 the Buddha was being restored.

The Royal Theatre is housed in one of the wings of the former palace of Luang Prabang, and our visit was primarily to watch the Lao court dance drama, Phra Lak Phra Lam, a version of the Hindu epic of the Ramayana. Having read past negative reviews of the show, we were hesitant at first but went anyway as we had time to kill.

For what its worth, we enjoyed the performance. Even though some of the dancers included children, for their age they showed a high degree of dedication and skill - it can't be easy to memorise and perform a choreography that is 15 mins long. Perhaps I'm more forgiving because these are enthusiastic young people who are dancing to carry on the tradition of their culture and history. If you keep an open mind, and read the synopsis beforehand (which they give to you), the drama does come alive, for example as the villainous Thotsakan tricks and kidnaps the beautiful Sida, or when Sadayou battles Thotsakan to free her.

The building does require a facelift - some water damage could be seen on the high ceiling. Soundproofing isn't great - you can hear the bustle of the backstage (although not overwhelming), and the back of the theatre (probably once a huge ballroom), seems to be used as makeshift storage. These are rather minor fussy details however to experience something that is rare: a unique Lao version of the Ramayana.

Just a few meters away from famous "Wat Visounnarath" temple and its "That Mak Mo" stupa, you will find "Wat Aham", one of the most revered shrines of Luang Prabang. Also known as the "Monastery of the Blossoming Heart", the actual building dates from the beginning of the 19th century and was built on the site of a much older temple dating from the 16th century. This is a small temple and its prayer hall is decorated with colorful murals. The main Buddha image is set on a pedestal and is surrounded by some smaller Buddha images. Outside, two small stupas and two enormous "Banyan" trees (the Buddhist sacred"Bhodi") are believed to be home of "Thevatuluang", the guardian spirit of Luang Prabang. May "Thevatuluang" protect your journey through Laos - the "Land of a Million Elephants"! Enjoy!

Started of with a trip to the local market where we learned so much about different ingredients and got to try some things. The cooking class itself was amazing and our teacher, Sit, was incredible. He explained everything, didn’t stress and was super funny. Highly recommend!!

A great initiative to help those kids (14-20 y) to improve their English. Reason: they want to get a better life than their parents have. They are thankful that you want to just chat with them. 9-11 and 17-19 h every day.

This is a store full of history, both the objects and personal of the owner. Granted it is not a store for everyone, yet if you are a collector, this is the place for you. The owner is gracious, she told storied of every object there.

Beautiful venue to begin with, the workshop was under renovation so we went to the house of the family who run the business. There we learnt how to heat the silver, shape it into the correct dimensions, mould and polish it. We learnt the old-fashioned authentic ways and our teachers were incredibly skilled and patient throughout the whole experience. Out of the 10g of silver I made 3 rings and a pendant. Special thank you to Nittama and uncle Khone, who delivered a brilliant course.

We read the reviews of this Spa and put it on our list of things to do if we had time. Well little did we know that we would walk right by here while going to drop off laundry and our very glad we made time to stop here.
This little inconspicuous place is a hidden gem.
From the welcome to the final tea, this place is a respite and very professional.
The signature 60 minute massage was excellent and very reasonably priced compared to the same type of massage back in the states.
Highly recommended stop in Luang Prabang!!
