- Sandy_JSRJamshedpur, India1,616 contributionsThe Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph located near to the Meharangarh Fort. It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State in 1899 in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, and it serves as the cremation ground for the royal Rajput family of Marwar. The cenotaph is built out of intricately carved sheets of Makrana marble. The cenotaph's grounds feature carved gazebos, garden, and a small lake. The entry fee is Rs. 30 per pax. Inside, there is nothing much to explore. A quick visit while visiting the fort may be made.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carolyn RNorco, CA40 contributionsExcellent. Must do this tour. It’s a private tour and not of the typical places but more meandering nooks and crannies. Bantu is very knowledgeable and kind. It’s the perfect length and the perfect amount of information.Written 28 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geoff BMelbourne534 contributionsInteresting to learn about the history of the palace and the people who built it and lived in it. Only 200inr per person for foreigners. You can only visit the museum and not the main hotel area. The gardens are immaculately maintained. Worth a quick visit.Written 23 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sandy_JSRJamshedpur, India1,616 contributionsSituated in the middle of busy and crowded market palace, parking may be an issue too. Visited the Ghanta Ghar / Clock Tower couple of times while visiting the market. The clock tower has a nice architecture. One can walk around to get a feel of old Jodhpur city life / crowd.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - P VPinner, UK192 contributionsBeautiful gardens to visit when the sun is about the set as it lights up the cenotapes.
The gardens could do with better upkeep as there are areas left with water stagnantion and wild growth. We paid a local guide to give us a short talk as we visited around the gardens.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Friendly locals who come up to you for a chat.
Pleasant place to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Did not try to go down as found it a bit freaky as suffer from vertigo but chose to sit at the top. I would have like to sit and have lunch/drinks at the stepwell restaurant which overlook the well.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As informed by the tour guide, it was the entertainment site for the Royal King. The hall has beautiful design and style and decorated with gold and colorful glass, which make the hall bright and glittering. The celling of the hall is inlaid with gold filigree. There are glass windows and mirrors, many beautiful portraits and paintings of the 18th century may also be found. The place is plentifully adorned with gold as a sign of royal glory.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
