100% would recommend this to anyone interested in the local Balinese food. The driver and guide were great, and then the setup for the cooking class was perfect as they help to prepare all the ingredients and clean around you as you go through. It didn’t seem possible that we could make 9 recipes in just a couple of hours, but we did and enjoyed every single one.

I really enjoyed my time with Putu, and I highly recommend this experience! I heard about this from a friend, who highly recommended it to me and said that it was lovely way to spend an afternoon near Ubud with Putu and learn how to cook Balinese food. Her family member picked me up at the place I was staying near Ubud (and dropped me off later) and arrived at her family's home. She was very warm and welcoming, and gave me some fresh young coconut water and Balinese snacks to enjoy while we chatted. Putu has many years of experience cooking for her entire family and Indonesian restaurants. The cooking class was awesome! She has great English and was a great teacher! Everything was super organized and clean! All of the ingredients, including vegetables, meats, and sauces, were portioned out beforehand and she was really clear in explaining how to prepare and cook each dish, and giving me adjustments and encouragement! I enjoy cooking at home, and I gained confidence cooking some of the Balinese dishes that I had been eating in restaurants. After cooking, I enjoyed eating all of the dishes for a late lunch, and some of the versions of the dishes that we made were more delicious than what I had eaten in the local restaurants. I took a box to-go to enjoy later for dinner, and I was happy to be eating that compared to the food offered at the place I was staying. If I have the opportunity to go back to Bali, I will definitely want to take another cooking class with Putu! She said that if you cook with her more than once, she changes and customizes the menu so that you are learning new things. This is a memorable and comfortable way to spend an afternoon in Bali!

Picked up by driver punctually at 730 and dropped off at the local morning market/pasar pagi with the rest of the group before meeting our guide and cooking instructor Wayan. We were introduced to the local tools used for cooking as well as fruits, vegetables and ingredients that will be used during the cooking session, before being driven to the cooking school.

The cooking school overlooking their own rice paddy field was lovely. We were first given some welcome drinks and share some snacks bought at the market and mingle with others in the group. Then taught how to make the flower offerings using the bamboo leaves and various flowers representing the gods in the Hindu religion.

A mixture of live hands on demo with explanation and divide & conquer (plus taking turns) tasks with preparation (chopping, cutting, pounding) and cooking the dishes made it very enjoyable experience for anyone over about 2 hours. We leant how to make the basic paste&sauce, a soup, a curry, a salad, sate ayam, tempe dish, a steamed fish paste in banana leaf and dessert, apart from how to cook rice the way the Balinese do it.

At the end of everything, we all sit down to enjoy the fruits of our labor before being dropped back off at our hotels.

A big Terima Kasih to Wayan & her team at Cobek Cooking School for this wonderful and culturally enriching experience for me.

My mother and I attended this cooking class with 5 other people from all around the world. It was extremely well organised and very clean. We cooked an 8 course meal which was delicious and we learnt so much about the flavours of Bali and different cooking techniques. I have done a number of cooking classes in a number of countries and this was up there with the best. A wonderful experience and highly recommend.

This was hands down one of the best things we did on our Honeymoon, and one of the best cooking class we have ever done. This is so much more than a cooking class, we spent the whole day with Dewa and his family learning all about his life, his village, and life in Bali. Dewa is so incredibly kind, and knowledgable you will love spending time with him. The food we made was delicious, and healthy, and Dewa gave us a handmade journal for us to write the recipes down in. We got a full look at Dewa's village, and got to see exactly where all of our food was coming from. We loved this and cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you so much Dewa for all your kindness, we loved spending time with you and your family!

We did a cooking class in Thailand last year which was one of the highlights of our trip so we decided to do another one this time in Ubud, Bali.

Definitely do this one - the morning class - so you get to visit the market and learn about local fruits, vegetables and the spices you’ll be using in the cooking class.

Although it was our second visit to the rice fields our guide provided some other informative information and was so friendly and patient with all of our questions.

The cooking class consisted of preparing at least 6 different dishes and 1 dessert. We did some chopping and had a mortar/pestal workout to make the base mixture we made for cooking. We taste tested each of our individual recipes before combining them for the lunch buffet.
The chef/guide was very informative and quizzed us along the way about what we were learning about the ingredients and recipes during the class.
We had 2 groups of only 3 couples each which was nice.
    We’re good cooks!

Great way to spend the morning with your significant other and learn about popular Indonesian/Bali cooking ingredients and recipes!

A must do when in Ubud!!

We had a wonderful day with Putu, a very empathic and peaceful person. She showed us the local market, her impressive house and garden with so many vegetables and ingredients we used to cook. The cooking class was very fun. We learned a lot and the food was amazing. Thank you so much for having us. We highly recommend this tour.

Dewa is amazing! We were recommended him through social media, as soon as we got in touch he was very helpful and very organised. We sent Dewa our itinerary and he organised drivers, mainly himself for our whole holiday around the Bali. Not only is he an amazing driver, he is full of knowledge and and took us round different sites himself also having our own personal guide. He is also an amazing cameraman and got all the top shots of my partner and I. Memories that will last a lifetime. We will be heading back to Bali again next year and will definitely be hoping to book our holiday excursions again with Dewa.

Wife and I are extremely glad we took the "Jambangan Bali Cooking Class".
We were welcomed into a Balinese home and explained lots about family and the way of living in Bali.
The atmosphere from the start was friendly, funny and welcoming - shoutout to cooking instructor Putu "the handsome" and Gus :)
The cooking class is for everyone, you cannot mess up the cooking even if you want to.
Food is made by attendees and is eaten freshly cooked at the place.
In the end an amazing, tasty, funny, learning experience.

    Would recommend to anyone!
