My visit to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary was an unforgettable experience! The lush greenery and serene pathways made it feel like stepping into a magical world. The monkeys were playful and fascinating to watch, roaming freely in their natural habitat.

The sanctuary is well-maintained, and the staff ensures both the visitors’ and monkeys’ safety. It’s important to follow the guidelines to avoid any trouble with the curious monkeys, especially if you’re carrying food.

The ancient temples within the forest added a spiritual touch, making the visit even more special. This sanctuary is a must-visit for nature and animal lovers exploring Ubud.

It is free to enter, and I suggest visiting in the morning to see the sunrise or in the afternoon to see the sunset. If you want to travel in the afternoon, make sure your phone is charged or bring a headlamp.

Tegenungan Waterfall is a breathtaking natural gem, perfect for a refreshing escape. The cascading water, surrounded by lush greenery, creates a picture-perfect scene that’s both energizing and soothing. The well-maintained paths make it accessible, though the stairs can be a bit challenging for some. It’s a great spot to take in the beauty of Bali and cool off in the clear waters. It was quite hot so always stay hydrated. Since it's a popular destination, it does get busy for photos at the picturesque spots. It is advisable to carry a selfie stick to avoid long waits and plan extra time for the breathtaking taking pictures. An umbrella and sunblock is a must. Whether you’re looking to relax or snap stunning photos, Tegenungan Waterfall offers an unforgettable experience. This is a destination I’d highly recommend for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

This place is commonly known as UBUD WATER PALACE. the place hosts the temple known as PURA TAMAN KEMUDA SARASWATI. following the regulations' of Bale Agung Ubud (Ubud Village community), entry to Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati is unavailable for all visitors, However, visitors can still explore the Kori Agung area and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Lotus Pond. It is also important to follow the regulations and wrap in the purple colored attire (Sarong) and the head cover. It is a beautiful and serene place.

The cave itself was very small and took less than 5 minutes to see the inside cave. The overall temple and botanical garden was very pretty. You will need to try at least 1/2 price haggle for the souvenir shops nearby the temple. The tickets do cover scarf for legs covering however unsure when this service will end so Bring scarves or wear long pants or skirts, this apply to both male and female.

For this journey, I could not suggest more Eco Tours. Along the journey, the guide knew the finest areas to stop and was highly informative.
There were plenty of delectable breakfast and coffee breaks. The hot springs were also a fantastic way to end the visit!

The royal palace in any city ought to be a cultural highlight, but like too much in Bali it doesn’t get the TLC it deserves. Only a tiny part is open to the public, but it does give a sense of former grandeur. But even these parts are a little scruffy and there is no information. Because the open areas are small, they are rammed with people like us, I.e tourists.
Unless you have specialist interest I’d be surptif you spent more than 15 minutes here. At least there is no entrance fee.

The 'tour' takes 5 minutes with lots of tea and coffee to taste at the end. As coffee drinkers were were keen to buy some but ended up leaving with several different teas. We tried them when we returned home and to our surprise they tasted as good as they did when we tasted them at the plantation which often isn't the case. I would say the tea is a powder and while not as sweet as when we tasted it at the plantation (the teas were very sweet) it is sweeter than we would normally take our tea.

Lots of space. Beautiful setup. Nice and breezy. The service was really good. The food was great. Our timing wasn’t great because we arrived at the same time of two buses full of tourists and we missed our chance of sitting on the bamboo booths on top of the pond.

Since I stay with Balinese friends in Bedulu (=Bedahulu village), the Pura Samuan Tiga is more or less "THE TEMPLE" where the family goes for celebrations. This year was a big 12 days celebration from April 17th to 29th with all kind of activities. People from many communities around the Ubud area bring their holy temple symbols (the Rangda costumes and masques, the Barong, the temple shrines and others) to the temple to be blessed. They bring incredibly huge offerings (towers of fruits, rice cakes and decorated with ornaments made from young palm leaves and flowers) which get blessed with holy water by the Hindu priests. The intent sticks and some money on top are for the temple, the beauty of the colors and smells are for the gods, the edible parts are take home again for the family. There are Gamelan orchestras playing, people moving and singing and priests reading from the holy scriptures. Our friend took us for two evenings to the temple (dressed in the usual temple dress: Sarong, Blouse and Selendang for the ladies, Sarong, Shirt, Selendang and Headdress for the males and sandals or flip-flops on the bare feet). On the first afternoon we saw the processions of the different Banjars (communities) arrive with their temple things and circle three times the area of Samuan Tiga. Then there was the run of the ladies (long black skirts, white blouse, red selendang) and men (all in white) around the temple. They hold hands and run in waves symbolizing the waves of the sea. After three rounds the men take from the heaps of discarded decoration and put the dry palm leaves like hats on their heads. After one more round they sit in front of the priests to get blessed and then hit each other with the dry palm leaves. This symbolically drives out all bad thoughts. Now the temple and the people are cleansed and ready for the arrival of the goods. (Physically - in our eyes - the temple is more dirty than ever, rubbish laying around everywhere.) In the evening the school children and some ladies show special dances in beautiful costumes accompanied by Gamelan music. Again, the beauty of the dancers, the dances and the music is mainly for the gods, not necessarily for the onlookers, who talk, eat, come and go and let their children play. It is definitely not a show in our sense. Everybody who wants to look stands or sits crosslegged somewhere on the floor.
If there is no ceremony, the temple is just a big area of stairs, temple shrines, and the huge holy banyan trees. Certainly worth seeing as well, but nothing in comparison to celebration times and preferably guided by somebody who knows about the meanings, like for example our friend, guide and driver I Nyoman Darna from Bedulu.

I am a painter but I brought my 75 yr old dad, 65yr old mom and sister to the class with zero experience and they LOVED it. Gusti was an amazing teacher. He’s very patient and truly believes in the value of art - we took forever to finish our paintings but he never rushed us. It was the perfect activity to do where you can be together but separate at the same time. Would go back again and do one of his other classes- small paintings or wood carving.

Lovely waterfall not far from Ubud. Not many tourists, quite a few locals with their kids the day we visited (Sunday).

Walk down is 90 steps my family did this fine I struggled coming back up as I’m unfit.

The monsoon rains have started so there was a lot of rain and the water very brown, no one was swimming when we visited

Cost to get into waterfall was 20 000 rph per person
