This is located in Bati Park in Baruthane - along the sea front. The park has lots of activities for children such as go-carting and play areas as well as plenty of wide shaded areas for picnicking. There is a man-made canal and a cafe on top of a mound in the Centre of the park. The large statue in the park is of an Amazon female warrior who according to Greek legends settled in this area. The warriors were famous for wielding bow and arrows and using double headed axes for fighting in battles. Next to the statue are statues of 2 large lions. For a small fee currently 5 lira, you can also visit the Amazon village. A pleasant place for walking

The Gogceli mosque was built in 1206 and is entirely made of wooden planks interlocked together without any nails! It is unique as it has no minaret and has unusual Seljuk and Ottoman decorations on the ceiling. The mosque has survived the elements and earthquakes because of its flexible structure and choice of materials - chestnut, oak, elm and ash timber. The mosque is located in a massive cemetery with only a few surviving ancient gravestones. It seems as though the cemetery is now in use again with many recent graves. This unique mosque is worth a visit so make sure you are wearing socks to be able to enter the mosque and of course a head covering for ladies.

Very small and different architecture, look like shell, very central location.
There are a lot of coffee shops around the mosque.

Saathane Square is definitely worth of visiting. An old city center, amazing vibe created by old mosques around it and a beautiful clock tower

Although not much is left of the old castle located on top of the hill, it is a lovely walk through the woods to the ruins of the castle. You will see a signpost on the main road and then follow the track for about 30 mins. We did the walk in March and there were beautiful flowers and buds starting to bloom yet parts of the track were still covered in snow. It was also quite misty at the top. At the top there is an archway which is the main remnant of the castle. I rated this as average as there is not much to see. However if you like walking then this should be rated higher as good!
