If you are driving here yourself (and not following a tour bus), do consider adding on a ebuggy ticket. We came with three young kids and I cannot imagine hustling my kids up the long slope when the weather was so hot. The buggy brings to you a carpark “near” the main feeding area. The buggy driver told us it was “one minute away” but I think he meant the entrance to the trail leading to the feeding area. We had to walk in a forested area, along an uneven path (muddy, thanks to the rain earlier that day) for 5 mins before reaching the platform. So grateful that three orang utans made an appearance and our trip wasn’t wasted. We were warned that it was fruits season, meaning food were plentiful and the orang utan might not appear to eat the offered food.

Other things to note- this place only opens 4 hours a day -8 to 10am and 2-4pm. We were told that they do not adhere strictly to the feeding times (9am/3pm) and it depends on when the orang utan decides to appear. Also, bring insect repellent and a fan/umbrella.

A bit frustrating because they could make so much more of what they have here.
The cabins ( we had a semi detached model) are dilapidated and our water heater didn’t work.It wouldn’t take much to make them more attractive to stay in..
We had been told the food on offer was poor but we were pleasantly surprised, it was ok and very cheap.
While you can walk the trails yourself you will see a lot more with a guide.
We also had a pit viper on the side of our trail at one point.
Unfortunately they have allowed some of the duckboard sections to fall into disrepair. Our guide fell through one and was lucky just to scape her shin . This is something they need to address.
We were told that a number of the trail routes are closed. Very unclear why this would be.

It was AMAZING! This truly is a living museum. The guides/staff are friendly and happy to provide you with information regarding the rich history and culture of multiple ethnic groups in Sarawak. Unfortunately, there were a few renovations during my visit and I was unable to fully experience the site. Nonetheless, I'll definitely come back here soon!

Most of landmarks in Kuching are located in this waterfront area, come and take a walk by the Sarawak River near dusk, enjoy some breeze and sunset. Don’t come here in a sunny afternoon, not many trees shade.

Mt. Santubong is the highest mountain one can climb located nearest to Kuching. Located in a national park, one needs to register with the Sarawak Forestry Corporation office prior to the climb. The track is almost four kilometers long and the summit can be reached within less than three hours. It is considered as tough but with some preparations, most can reach the summit with little problems.

The gardens are very beautiful. However you need to apply insect repellent on you because the inscect bites are really painful.

Being very interested in wildlife of all description we opted to visit the Wetlands Park once early morning and then in the evening.
Both trips were enjoyable and interesting for different reasons,
in the morning we saw the Irrawady snub nosed dolphins and a
wonderful specimen of crocodile and in the eveing we were once againl lucky enough to see the dolphins and the proboscis
    monkeys. Highly enjoyable

Went with my daughter. We were the only people who were there during our visit. I am not really a fan of cats but it is quite interesting to know that there are many types of cats. The collection in the museum is quite interesting.

It is more than just orangutan - sun bears, crocodiles, bearcats, hornbills, porcupine, deer. This centre strives to give its wildlife residents a happy life and it is worth more than the entrance fee just to see the antics of the orangutan. Add in the rest of the residents and you have a good visit!

For me, getting to the longhouse was the best part. Myself and a fellow traveller hired a driver/guide to do a day tour including Semenggoh Nature Reserve and two long houses. Annah Rais was interesting to see, people seemed friendly considering the volume of tourists they must normally see (tourism way down because of COVID, few weeks before lockdown). The drive to Annah Rais was beautiful, the highlight of the day. We made many stops to explore and take photos along the way.
