- Frances LLos Angeles, CA1 contributionTight schedule as expected but enough time to explore. It was a combined English, Japanese and Chinese tour. Wish I knew what the Japanese guide was saying. He talked quite a bit and made Japanese group laughed. The English guide served as a translator mostly for the bus schedule. It is not a true guided tour but I knew before I booked it. Nice, clean and comfortable bus with good AC. The tour covered all major point of interests in the area that I wanted to visit. A much more efficient way to visit than taking the trains and local buses. The cheese factory stop was not necessary for me. Couldn’t not relate to the story of the trees along the patch work road but it was a nice drive. - Chalet T1 contributionSapporo is such a magical place to visit! We took JR trains, subways and buses a lot, but for places such as the zoo and countryside, others means of transportation are needed. We booked the TripAdvisor tour online, it was easy and fast, and the experience was wonderful! The zoo was very special, a must see in Hokkaido! The only pity is that flowers are not blooming yet, but the bus did meander through the roads by the fields, still very impressive! It was a Tuesday, and I had just arrived from the United States earlier that day, so this was my plan to enjoy Sapporo with a local and eliminate any confusion about where to go, what to eat, etc. Green was an outstanding host. We had a great time hopping from spot to spot. It was raining pretty hard, so we modified our plans as we went along. It was such a great experience, and Green was such a wonderful host. Our SkyExpress driver (Hiro) used creativity and ingenuity to overcome any language barriers and provide us with an excellent day. The experience gets you hyper focused on your newfound craft, so prepare for the journey. - Scott D4 contributionsOur tour of Sapporo was fantastic! Ryuki went above and beyond what we expected. We were expecting to pay for taxis to get around to the various sites in the city but he drove us around in his own very comfortable car. He was friendly, outgoing and very knowledgeable. Not only did he take us to the various sites, but he also explained to us the cultural history and significance of the various sites. His English was impeccable. - chiara iMilan, Italy7 contributionsThis was truly a UNIQUE experience and delicious dinner. We were to spend 2 days in Sapporo after a 2week tour of Japan, and we were looking to live an authentic Sapporo/Japanese home cooking experience. So other than sleeping at a ryokan, we searched for something which would give us the chance to dive into the local culture and cuisine despite being a 2-day trip only. The added value of this experience was Shiro! She made sure we were comfortable in her home and truly eager to help us get to know more about their traditional cuisine, while being very open to share about the daily life and habits of a local family. We learned how to make sushi and other dishes, while she had previously prepared a lot of other delicious dishes, including her homemade plum sake which was maturing for 3 years! We spent a great evening (from 6pm pick up time at the station to about 9:30pm), her English was good and with this we really felt like we managed to live a real and authentic local experience without which it just wouldn’t have been the same trip.
Thank you again Shiro for opening your house to us and for such a wonderful time!!!
PS. Went to see all the places listed with pit stops in between.
Tour guide gives information both in English and Mandarin.
Return to Sapporo before 6pm
Cons:
Abit of a hurried tour.
Only time to enjoy a meal is at the zoo and it was crowded as it is the Japan school holidays.
