- PatricGDallas, TX43 contributionsBeautiful temple and grounds in KL. When I visited on Saturday morning the place was chock-a-block full of wedding parties celebrate their big day.
Plenty to wander and see as well as shop stalls and food if you are interested. Worth an hour and going a bit out of the central city core.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DrDouglas1971Edinburgh, UK111 contributionsAs a lover of art and galleries I greatly enjoyed my visit. I walked from (and to) Merdaka Square on a particularly hot day so you might want to take a Grab or public transport.
The building itself is modern with welcoming staff. You can leave backpacks and such in the free lockers and then explore; admission is also free. The design allows lots of natural light to flood in and viewpoints to the world outside.
There are 6 floors most of which are dedicated to currency and finance as well as Malaysian culture & development.
The artwork is varied and covers many genres; the shadow puppet exhibition was great; they even had Marvel and Star Wars characters.
The cafe was inexpensive and served a decent cup of tea and the gift shop had a good range of mementos.
I would say they were missing Scottish Bank Notes, which I would happily donate!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When you come, there will be staff who will provide you with clothes and headscarf.
There will be a guide to introduce you to this place. They speak very clearly and so friendly. They also show you shooting locations and help you take your pictures.
And everything is free.
So, Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan is a great place and is a place worth visiting.Written 26 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Originally lived in by a local Headsman, his 4 wives and numerous children, in a small village in the Northern part of Peninsula Malaysia, it was rescued, relocated and restored in 1996-1997, taking a week to dismantle and over a year to restore.
Arriving for the first tour on a Saturday morning I pleasantly surprised to be the only visitor and after watching an informative video on the history and restoration of the building it was time for the guided tour.
The gentleman intern and his colleague who undertook the tour were so friendly and informative throughout, pointing our interesting details and telling tales along the way. It really is a fascinating house. As well as being the village chief he was also judge & jailer and the building reflects that - I shan’t spoil any of the details as I urge you to visit and discover for yourself.
There is also a wee gift shop, garden and more exhibitions adding to the charm of the place.
In a busy city like Kuala Lumpar not only is The Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman a must for any culture or history buff but also a green and leafy space to enjoy some R&R amid the hustle & bustle. I do hope (& encourage) more people to visit but have to admit I did enjoy my VIP tour and look forward to visiting again.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a very interesting museum, lots of information and many exhibits well displayed. An impressive display of weaponry. - Lars Hallgren80 contributionsPretty cool here, a bit of a fuss to get to the helipad and you have to either buy a drinks combination which grants you access or a ticket. We took the drinks as we intended to stay for a while but the staff were a little unsure what to do as it looked like rain which never came.
The views are amazing and you have unhindered views of the Warisan Merdeka Tower (2nd tallest building in the world), the Petronas Tower and the Menara Kuala Tower plus a really good view of the sunset.
We had some bar food which was pretty decent too although a little expensive. Service was good once the staff had decided it wasn't going to rain. I can recommend this as a good tourist spot for party goers and photographers as it's a lot of fun, especially as the night moves on. Its a good idea to ring ahead and book a table.Written 23 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - daninktAscot, UK32 contributionsFascinating morning with Saadiah learning how to cook Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rendang, and Kuih Cara Manis while also learning some Malay, and some Malaysian traditions along the way. Saadiah is a very clear and thoughtful teacher, and her staff very helpful in keeping the cooking areas clean and clear. Great fun, leading to a delicious lunch, and with Saadiah’s advice you take away skills and recipes you can actually use back home.Written 13 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeFoBrighton, UK1,077 contributionsInteresting place in the central market annex, 2nd floor (there is a lift). There is a 5RM entrance but the owner seems happy to waive the charge for foreigners. The artifacts are substantially from Indonesia. He seems to be a personal collector. There are few explanations and I was (possibly unjustifiably) concerned about the provenance - but the same can be said of most museums but it's well worth a visit.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Intan4 contributionsMy son joined the tie dyed t-shirt activity and he had so much fun. Great activity for everyone and we got nice tie-dyed t-shirts at the end of the session.
The duration of the activity is about 1 hour. My son was given a new white shirt for the activity.
They will guide you throughout the whole fun process and at the end, my son got a tie dyed shirt to be worn the next day.Written 30 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is not your typical bar; it’s a fusion of classic Asian charm and modern-day fun, where every corner offers something unexpected.
The vibe at Susie Wong is truly one-of-a-kind. With its rich red velvet curtains, intricate lanterns, and walls adorned with old-school Asian movie posters, the place feels like a 1940s opium den—if opium dens served killer cocktails and hosted DJ nights. The entire space oozes character, making it the kind of spot where you can’t help but reach for your phone to snap a few pictures.
Now let’s talk about the drinks. The cocktail menu here is an adventure on its own. The bartenders at Susie Wong are serious about their craft, shaking up concoctions that are not just Instagram-worthy, but also dangerously delicious. Expect bold flavors and playful presentations, from the spicy Chili Margarita to the refreshing Lychee Martini. The cocktails are as eclectic as the decor, making each sip feel like an experience. Pro tip: try the signature Susie Wong cocktail for a blend of flavors as complex as the venue itself.
And the fun doesn’t stop at the drinks! The entertainment is a mix of live performances, cabaret-style shows, and upbeat DJ sets that keep the energy high. The performers bring an element of surprise to the night, whether it’s a sultry burlesque number or an energetic dance routine. The whole experience feels a little bit like a Gatsby party with an Asian twist—glitzy, glamorous, and full of life.
The crowd at Susie Wong is a lively mix of locals and expats, all soaking up the whimsical ambiance and letting loose. It’s the perfect place for a night out with friends, a fun date, or even just people-watching while sipping on a cocktail. You never quite know what you’ll get at Susie Wong, and that’s exactly what makes it such a blast.
If you’re in Kuala Lumpur and looking for a spot that delivers great drinks, cool vibes, and a little bit of theatrics, Susie Wong is the place to be. Just be prepared to stay longer than planned—this is the kind of place that draws you in for “one quick drink” and has you staying until the early hours.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Such a unique place with a hidden entrance through a toy shop. The boleh mocktail I had was absolutely delicious, and my boyfriend enjoyed his drinks as well. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially Hamza, who somehow knew it was my birthday and played a birthday song for me, making the evening even more memorable. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect for a night out. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves a great bar experience!Written 12 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kristina BKuala Lumpur, Malaysia167 contributionsI’ve done 4 escape rooms here and they are all very good. The puzzles are spot on - simple in its understanding but tricky in completion. The themes are good and the design/interiors are awesome. I recommend Subway Terror.
Better than other escape rooms in KL because they don’t feel impossible or far-fetched but definitely offer a challenge.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
