A good place to see animals, however, they could add more varieties of animals. It would be great if the shops were opened though

A beautiful beach near Tangalle with a few places to eat and drink. You can rent sun loungers here and it’s often free if you buy drinks or eat. If not, it’s around 1000 rupees. Tip…wherever you rent the lounger from is where you are expected to order food and drinks from.
The waves are deceptively high so be careful! There isn’t a lifeguard but the bar owners are helpful and friendly. One bar doesn’t have a food menu - the food is that fresh as it’s whatever they catch!
The dogs won’t bother you, they may sit under your lounger or the umbrella to keep cool.
This was a favourite part of our holiday.

The garden is well maintained no doubt with a great effort. The visit is worth for the money we spent. There are many trees which we never get a chance to see within our life time. Even the garden is locate in dry zone in Sri Lanka you can see there are tress which grows wet zone too. The trees look very healthy.

still under development. but exceptionally designed and well maintained.. was surprised to see such a garden in dry zone area like hambanthota..you have to take a park vehicle to see the full garden as its too large to cover on foot.

This is home! The perfect place to switch off and relax completely. Sam is so welcoming from the second you step into the Ashram and it provides a space you can do as you wish; whether that is just chilling, meditation, yoga or walks in nature etc. Beautiful location, simple living, a friendly dog and delicious vegan food:)

The Walawe River Safari is a must-do for bird watchers. We saw a variety of species and the highlight was seeing various types of egrets and herons all flocking in together - at around 5/6pm - to spend the night in just two trees. I've never seen so many birds together in congregation. They just kept coming and coming, flying overhead and all landing in these two trees creating a vision of white, no branches to be seen.

The bee eaters and parakeets were a delight and the weaver bird nests, fascinating. We also witnessed trees full of bats, and the sunset as we headed back was magical.

I only wish the trip was longer. I could've sat in that boat for half a day watching the birds and although brilliant, the whole thing felt a little rushed and was over very quickly. The boat had quite a noisy engine too which did scare some birds away. It would've been nice to switch it off and just sit in silence for a while, waiting to see what turned up.

A section of beach at the end of the river was covered in litter. Really sad sight considering it lies between river and ocean and will end up being a huge problem for many species. It hadn't just washed up over night either - there was loads of it. I hope the locals and those running this trip will make an effort to clean it up in the future.

Other than that, both gentleman were polite and provided a fantastic trip. Thank you very much Sisira. We love Sri Lanka and the bird watching opportunities are aplenty!

Found this place by passing the main road thru an scooter and the entrance caught our attention so we tried and worth it. Location wise it is so convenient for public transport busses too. Entrance is charge 20 rupees for locals and 200 rupees for foreigners and also 20 rupees for our scooter parking.
Our first stop was the fish therapy so ticklish. Went around the area and saw varieties of plants, etc and really interesting and educational, unfortunately some garden like the anthorium garden is locked. This place is good for shoolchildrens, agro buffs, group of friends to chill out and hang out. Washroom area is available.
After a 2 and half hours hours strolling went to this small cafe like area it's on left side near the entrance with an outdoor seating seeing the park entrance not to be missed to view the lovely small lake and its beautiful landscapes. They served mostly local snacks and juices.
Recommend to check the weather before coming or bring umbrella or a coat you don't know whenever it will rain.
Definitely recommended things to do in Hambantota on a day tour.

We went to this property with all family members and it was quite educational to all of us. The guide was very helpful throughout explaining the varieties of species and allowing us to spend as much as time near the birds.

We hired the golf cart to travel in the park and it was quite entertaining visit as well.

We visited on a quiet weekday and found a car park surrounded by retail outlets selling a variety of foods and souvenirs. Within the grounds there are 4 pools fed by a single very hot spring. male and female changing rooms for visitors wishing to sample the waters

Children's play area, café and not the best maintained aquarium and aviaries and rabbit hutches

Was amazing to see a turtle but there was about 50 of us down on the beach. There needed to be more than just one guide with this huge group as we also didn't know what was going on.
When we did spot a turtle, the infra red light was shown on it for 15 seconds and that was it. There was so many people, the turtle moved away from everyone to nest. Then just wait for another turtle to come onto the beach. We left after 90 mins when we realised we would only see the turtle for a few seconds and the overcrowding wasn't really good for the turtles. Bit of a shame.

We first visited Indika in 2012. We came across this small Art Gallery and not only found an amazing selection of wonderful Art but also a truly creative and inspirational man. We have bought two traditional pieces from Indika and they hang proudly in our home in the UK, giving rise to curiosity from all who see these wonderful paintings.

This is a beautiful beach. A good place to relax and sunbathe. The sea is rough with strong waves. Sea bath not recommended.
