My boyfriend had a blast seeing all of this history. Definitely follow the guide they offer you in order to see everything because you will get lost and miss stuff. In addition they have the USS Drum now which looked awesome to.

This museum was a short walk from our hotel, and adjacent to the Cruise Terminal. We got a reduced price because some of the exhibits were down. However, many good exhibits were functioning fine, and our admission price was a steal! It offers an excellent introduction to the Gulf of Mexico, maritime cargo shipping, sailing, environmental protection, and other areas as well. Some personal stories are included as well. On the top level, you can be the captain of a boat and sail through Mobile Bay and the Mobile River. The gift shop is nice and offers some inexpensive items for the kids. No food service is currently offered, other than some vending machines. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Time flew when we were there. Definitely worth a visit!

Really enjoyed the tour and the film to all fully explain the roots of as well as the origins of Mardi Gras. The displays were wonderful, the gowns were beautiful, the history was impressive. Loved seeing and hearing about all of the articles, clothing, artifacts, history that we learned about. The guide was local and he seemed very knowledgeable. It is a worthwhile exhibit to see in understanding key points about Mobile, the people, the history. The only thing I would like is for the guide to wear some type of microphone in the initial stages of the tour because the wonderful music is a little loud. Again, well worth your while.

We went into this church on a Saturday afternoon. It is really beautiful, if you like looking at old churches you will be in for a treat. It was well maintained, there were signs telling some of the history of the windows. Worth a stop.

Two adults spent about five hours in the History Museum of Mobile on a Friday afternoon in early June. It was not crowded, which made for a pleasant experience. YMMV. The Viking special exhibit was absolutely fascinating—really a world class exhibit. Our only complaint was that we wished it included more items, they were well displayed and explained. Unfortunately, the exhibit will only be there through mid-June. The rest of the museum was well laid out and very interesting, covering the history of the greater Mobile area from prehistory through the Civil War to modern day. All covered very well. More exhibits than we really had time to see, but we tend to read almost all accompanying material. Also included entrance to Reproduction Fort Conde, across the street, which we did not have time for. Our loss. Again, YMMV.

We were in Mobile attending a convention. Twice, during some free time, we visited Dauphin Street. While there we did eat at a couple of restaurants and attended a movie (see reviews elsewhere), thus this review is of the street in general and of the two parks in particular.

The first park is Cathedral Square, in front of the cathedral. It is nice tree lined open area surrounded by restaurants and other night life. It is a good place to people watch, especially those dining at "Spot of Tea" which is across Dauphin Street.

The other park is Bienville Square, a couple of blocks closer to the river. This is a larger park. It had a couple of art installations remaining from the Oyster Shell Community Art Project in 2013. These were oversized oyster shell sculptures which had been decorated to depict Mobile history and culture. I subsequently learned that there were several others along Dauphin Street which I did not notice.

All in all, the street is a pleasant way to pass some free time. I recommend visiting it.

Just driving across the bridges from Mobile to Baldwin County is incredible!!! Gulf Coast Water of both side....Sunsets in the distance... people fishing along the edge... all the numerous restaurants!!! Be sure and drive Interstate 10 and marvel at its construction and drive along the old causeway highway as you venture into the old Bankhead Tunnel and the Wallace Tunnel... unique!!!

We were visiting Mobile for the first time while attending a convention. Before going we had looked at things to do in Mobile and noted the high reviews the Crescent Theater had. On the first day we were there, during some free time, we went walking around the downtown area. We encountered the Crescent Theater and noticed it was showing a movie we wanted to see. Not having the time to see it then, we returned to our hotel.

Later in the week we had an afternoon free and made a beeline to the theater. While we were expecting a quaint theater, we had not expected the delightful owner who sold us the tickets and then chatted with us for quite a while. He alone was worth the price of admission. Needless to say we also enjoyed the show

I expect to be back in Mobile in June 2023 and will definitely go see whatever is showing. I only regret that there is not an equivalent place near my home

Tour guides were very knowledgeable about the house, the family who lived there, and the contents inside. It was very informative and educational. Allow 2 hours to view the entire home and garden.

What a pleasant surprise. Very beautiful home restored meticulously to represent eras and periods of Mobile’s history. The tour guides were the sweetest ladies. Very much enjoyed listening to their stories and details of the home - very knowledgeable!

    Highly recommend this tour!

A walk back in time and so enjoyable. What a beautiful place ! I was drawn to the trees in the front of the house, they were just beautiful. Our group was about 23 seniors and we were there for a tour and lunch. Wonderful ! Let me say that they managed to make the home accessible to people with mobility issues. We have toured many homes and this is the first I believe to have such an accommodation. The guides opened the doors and opened their arms. We were so welcomed. Our wonderful guide (I did not write down her name and of course forgot it) but what I do remember is that she was only in Alabama a short time...57 years ! While she may have had northern roots, she is now the personification of southern charm and grace. She was wonderful. They were all wonderful. She walked us through the home with knowledge, expertise, and very confident in her understanding and telling of the history of the home. When we finished the tour, we were lead to the lunch area where we again were graced with southern hospitality. Our lunch was served and it was white table cloths and properly table settings for lunch. The lunch was delicious and the guides/host were there to make sure we were properly served. It was such a wonderful visit and experience and I along with our entire group had a wonderful time. I was so pleased at how they masterfully addressed the needs of all 23 or 24 in our group. Thanks ! Wonderful experience. I

This science center is part of the the astc passport program and had loads of interactive exhibits for kids to explore. It was a great way to spend a wet morning as we passed through mobile

As visitors from the UK much of the information about the house given to us by the “Belles” today was new and fascinating. The furnishings are well maintained and the guides interest and enthusiasm for her job was infectious. We loved it.

This was Free as part of the History Museum. Across the street. It's more of a little park area with a few artifacts in the buildings.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend a Mobile Baybears game before they moved, but at least we were able to attend the Halloween lights display. I’m looking forward to the holiday lights.
