I am a beginner surfer, and I was in a surfing accident a couple years ago, so I was very nervous to go out for the first time since my accident. I also have never done anything “therapy” related, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Both Sherri and Veronica were calming, grounding, and incredible humans, and I immediately felt very comfortable!
On land, Veronica asked about myself and my story, we set intentions, and she was very thorough with her teaching. Sherri also had an incredibly joyful and calming presence. She did a fabulous job of explaining somatic breathing and teaching us how to do it as beginners. It is definitely a tool I plan on applying to my day to day life. While out in the water, Veronica was super patient with me. She was my hype girl, and also gave me tips on how to improve.
I have to admit, being out in the water is a humbling experience and surfing is not easy, but riding a wave and walking out of the water feeling accomplished and empowered is unlike any other feeling! I no longer feel scared. I love the added component of mental health.
This was unlike any other surf lesson, and I’m so sad we had to leave the next day, otherwise I would’ve liked to book a second session during our trip!
