Beautiful, turquoise waters greet you. No waves in the lagoon so safe for kids to swim in. The water is warm. Plenty of shading from trees around the lagoon.

We love Marie Nui Botanical Gardens! The work she is doing here is important, and if you stop long enough to read and learn a little bit you will appreciate the experience a lot more. Make sure you explore every corner of the garden because there are hidden nooks you don’t want to miss! When you’re done spend a lazy hour eating lunch in their deliciously unique garden cafe. The lemon merengue cheesecake is a must! Marie’s daughter runs the cafe, and she is a joy.

Worth a visit, we went to the market after being recommended by the locals. There was great local food and produce. There was more variety of items compared to the local shops. Definitely worth a visit if you’re on the island on a Saturday!

Loved the night markets. Plenty of food options, great entertainment and plenty of seating. Get there early to ensure you don’t miss out on the delicious food. Hot tip - the servings are large, you can most likely share a meal.

Great place for snorkeling. We saw heaps of fish including some moray eels and puffer fish. Very safe and calm within the reef.

This was a very challenging hike. It is very well marked and has beautiful views. Although it is quite challenging, anybody with an average fitness could achieve this. I would highly suggest to go after a couple of sunny days, otherwise it would be very slippery.

Not only is it the abundance of sea life....including the odd turtle....it's how age friendly this part of the lagoon is. I had my 80+ mother with us, and this part of the island was so easy for her to get in and out of the sea, and some many fish to see without having to go out deep.

We didn't get lucky with a great weather during out 6-day stay in October so we never saw this beach at its absolute best but what we had seen was absolutely stunning and beautiful - it's a wonderful stop for a beach visit, but also just to sit down, relax, unwind - I would say also very romantic for couples :) the story/history behind the significance of this place makes it even more special!

TIP: great spot for whales/sunsets, the big parking lot right above it makes it super easy to organize a quick, or a long one, stop :)

Was fortunate enough to visit Sunday service when travelling choral groups from outer islands were also visiting. The singing and indeed the whole service is a must do when visiting the Cook Islands!

Very professional museum in Muri, focusing on the history and culture of the Cook Islands. Well presented exhibits us a continuous loop of about 20 short films. Good quality gift shop and friendly staff. Coffee shop attached. Definitely worth a visit

I really liked this snorkel adventure with the family. The swim was easy and we were able to see a lot of cool things and I loved the shipwreck.

I visited to have a combination of vacation, and get out section in Aroa cleared.Caught with family, abit shopping, etc.
Only issue was Jetstar losing one of suitcases, took three days to fly it from AUCKLAND, so much for paying an extra 20kg for extra bags. Also never got told who removed and took my padlock off my bag.
Other than that take your insects repellent. ⁶
