We enjoyed this botanical garden. I especially liked the Sonoran desert lop and the giant cactus planted in 1939. We spent a couple of hours here. It was already quite busy when we arrived at 10:30 a.m.

This is such a find and so well done. If you love music or learning about cultures of the world this is a must see. Recommend starting upstairs where galleries of instruments from many many countries are shown and include snippets of video showing them in use(head sets provided) . Then you can move downstairs for a gallery featuring memorabilia of numerous music names from Elvis Presley to Prince. There is also a nice cafeteria with outdoor seating and a gift shop. We spent about 6 hours here including lunch and felt it was well worth our time

Was going to spend a couple of hours here while I was in town for a conference; I ended up staying four and only saw maybe half of it. It's all about Native American art and culture. The exhibits are beautifully presented and well explained. A major point is the diversity of Native American cultures--something we generally don't realize in no small part because our Euro-American forebears tried their best to obliterate these cultures. But the survived. The gift shop is a gallery of what Native artists are doing today, and an exhibit in its own right. The special exhibit when I visited was "Maria and Modernism", which put Pueblo ceramic artist of the first-half of the 20th c. in the larger context of American modernism, and shows how native artistic traditions continue to evolve through dialog with other artistic traditions. Lunch in the museum cafe, featuring native-themed dishes and using local, native ingredients, was excellent...and reasonable.

Started shortly after sunrise on the Echo Trail. Cool temps, busy trail. Strenuous hike with rewarding views. Take water, a 2litre Camelback bladder was more than enough for me.

A great little hike with lots of wildlife and beautiful views. It’s pretty crowded but each person I met was friendlier than the next.

Attended the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. Facility was acceptable for it’s age. Concessions were acceptable and wait times were reasonable. Parking was adequate and distance to event was not far. No issues overall for a football game in a baseball stadium.

Decided to stop here for a quick look before checking into our AirBnB after arriving in Phoenix. It’s close to the airport and next to the Phoenix Zoo. It reminds me of an oasis in the desert. Small desert animal-themed playground and short nature trail for those unable to climb to Hole In The Rock. Or just watch the waterfowl on the pond—very tranquil. Only the trail to the “Hole” was busy on a weekday AM.

Very large zoo with a ton of animals to see. We went on Veterans Day and everyone in Phoenix was there. Even with all the people it still was only really crowded in certain areas. Parking was a nightmare, but I doubt it’s bad during a normal day. Rhinos were the favorite

This museum is very impressive with 4 large rooms of fire department items starting with the oldest engines all the way up to the newest ones. They even have an engine which was involved in 9/11. There is also a large kids area. Great for parents who would like to look around on their own. It is quite a ways out from downtown Phoenix so plan for it. We took 1 1/2 hours to go through it, but you could take a lot longer.

In the morning I went to the Phoenix Art Museum and my husband went for walk in the downtown. The museum has one Monet, two small paintings by Toulouse-Lautrec, one Courbet… not their best paintings but still interesting. I also spotted Marie Laurencin’s “Portrait of a Girl” and loved it. And for Yayoi Kusama’s fans there is her huge installation “You are getting obliterated in the dancing swarm of butterflies”. I was lucky to be in the small dark room alone and enjoy her work - when I was leaving a huge group of schoolchildren was getting.

I spent 90 minutes in the museum and think it was worth it, but certainly not a must, if you are short on time. The contemporary building of the museum is full of light and the museum garden is lovely.

We were in Pheonix for one week and went to the children’s museum TWICE because our 3 boys (8, 7 and 4) loved it so much. They especially loved the 3rd floor with the pizza making and grocery store stations. So fun!!
