What travellers are saying
- travelingfamily985Louisiana53 contributionsGreat looking park, about 10 minutes from the interstate.
Our site was pretty unlevel, so be prepared for that. We had a pull through site. Didn’t see much b/c it was raining, but it looked very well kept. Showers and bathrooms were clean and nice.Written 19 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We have family from out of town and were planning on attending the Peach Festival last weekend. So I searched "things to in Ruston." It came up as the #2 pick and it was free. I disagree. #1! We enjoyed the museum far more than the festival. Currently the second floor is not handicap accessible, but the museum is moving later this year across the street to a larger single story building. They have much more to display that is in storage! Hard to imagine that!
So well laid out! Lot's of display's to read. So many firearms, anti-aircraft guns, guns from all over the world! I can't wait to take more family there when they come to visit!
Can't believe it's free! So if you hate it at least you didn't have to pay for it.
We didn't regret it...hope you won't either. We will defiantly go back.
An hour is too short, but if that is all you had, it would still be a great stop. Please put this on your list if passing through!Written 5 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It did not disappoint! The history of the area is beautifully on display here, and the staff of the museum were extremely friendly and on hand to answer any questions. The second floor of the museum has a large collection of memorabilia from the area's past, including military uniforms and an old Singer sewing machine. Definitely worth visiting when you're in Ruston.Written 26 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike ORoanoke, VA1,377 contributionsWhile visiting Ruston for the first time, we were pleased to find the Rock Island Greenway. We parked at the north end of the greenway in RL Cook Park; about 20 parking spaces, some tree shaded. From there we walked the entire 5 mile length of the trail to East Tennessee Avenue, and back. The northern most section is newly paved and partially shaded. The section from I20 south along Monroe Street to West California is merely a suggestion; since no trail work has been completed yet, we walked along the street. The southern section is newly paved and nicely shaded. All was flat. No mile markers.Written 7 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gordy1012019Haughton, LA5 contributionsVenue is excellent, overall. Seating is easily reached for all. Bathrooms are plenty and CLEAN!. Concessions are diverse and fairly priced. If you are a 'tailgater',you will love the availability of space. Its a real family oriented attraction.Written 21 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mike ORoanoke, VA1,377 contributionsWe found this park to have something for most everyone. It has a pavilion, a couple of playgrounds (one is shaded), a basketball court, a lighted ball field, restrooms, and parking for a dozen or so cars. All seemed to be in good condition.Written 10 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mike ORoanoke, VA1,377 contributionsThis place is new and gigantic. Covering 185 acres it includes multiple fields/courts for baseball, softball, tennis, football/soccer, T-ball, and an indoor gym. The complex is available for use by residents, tournament participants, sports organizations, and teams. Some of the complex if free to use, some requires payment of a fee. Impressive complex.Written 2 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mike ORoanoke, VA1,377 contributionsWe enjoyed this park while visiting Ruston. We parked in one of the shaded spaces in the parking lot; about 5 of the 20 spaces were shaded. Then we walked the 0.5 mile paved loop around the park. From there we walked the entire 5 mile length of the Road Island Greenway, and we walked back. The park itself was in tip top condition; shaded playground, exercise equipment, picnic shelter, rest rooms, and gazebo.Written 7 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
