What travellers are saying
- Robby FTampa, FL12 contributionsWe just want to say thanks so much to Susie and Ed Brown in Boothbay Harbour Maine. We visited their art exhibition, Ed Brown's Wharfside Gallery, and found not only the exact pieces needed to complete our nautical themed master bedroom but more importantly found awesome friends for life. We cannot say thank you enough. Thanks for Sherman’s friend “woody”, the personalized Fussell boat, and the regatta inscriptions. Ed and Susie are amazing artists and incredible people. You have a forever impact on us. 👍❤️Written 24 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nancy TChattanooga, TN11 contributionsFour childhood friends went to Boothbay Harbor, May 30-June 3, and we loved it. Many of the stores were just beginning to open for the 2023 season, and in fact, Abacus was not open yet. We stayed at Fisherman’s Wharf, where our balconies were right on the harbor. Two large sailboats were in the harbor, just off the balcony. It was great! We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this hotel, right in the heart of downtown Boothbay. And the hotel staff was wonderful….. very friendly and helpful — the housekeeping staff, maintenance staff, front desk folks — everyone!
Although we were disappointed that Abacus was not yet open, we enjoyed being in the heart of shopping. Our favorite store was Mainely Nautical, almost across the street from our hotel. Shop owner, Patty Sterling, has stocked her store with beautiful gifts, and she features mostly items from talented women…even a mother daughter team.

- NHjoSaco, ME8,609 contributionsWe didn't know there could be so many different and unique flavors of popcorn. Some were too outlandish to even try, but the Maine maple is fantastic.Written 12 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fang ShihHollis Center, ME1 contributionWhile it can feel a little claustrophobic in areas, especially around the checkout area, this store really does have a lot to offer to the spiritually inclined. The book section often contains at least a few rare, obscure, or out of print books of one category or another. The back left corner of the shop contains several cases full of religious/ritual items from India, Tibet, China, and other Eastern lands. They carry a decent selection of oils, herbs, crystals, incense, and ritual implements geared toward mainstream witchcraft, Wicca, and Hoodoo. I will say that the shop carries a slightly anachronistic air to it, that almost feels like it stopped keeping up with the growth of occultism after the late 1980s, and is frozen in time. Unless they start expanding their book section, you're unlikely to find any titles from the wellspring of more recent publishers, such as Troy Books, Scarlet Imprint, Three Hands Press or other outfits of that ilk. It is a curious store, and I will continue to visit whenever I am in the area, since there really aren't many stores in Maine that carry a comparable selection of esoteric oddities. There is always something worth buying there.Written 19 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
