This was our second trip to the Moses Cone Memorial Park. It won't be our last. There are so many beautiful trails there. We have done two. We also were there in time to take a tour of the upstairs of the Cone Home. The park ranger shared a lot of great information. I love this area..

We stopped and picked up food for a picnic and went to the Price Park picnic area. It's a small area but beautiful area. The picnic area is on the edge of the babbling creek. Relaxing peaceful area to spend some time whether you're traveling down the Blue Ridge Parkway or if you're wanting to get outside of town and into nature.

The lake is so beautiful! The pathway around it is well-kept and lovely. The variety of water fowl kept us busy trying our hand at identifications.

The fossil museum was amazing. Isaac was our tour guide and he is extremely knowledgeable and will tell you everything you want to know about all the fossils they have, which is very extensive.

Our grandsons are obsessed with Thomas the Train so we took advantage of a long weekend at Tweetsie Railroad in June for the annual Day our with Thomas. The amusement park is just the right size for families with small children. You can easily see everything in 5 or 6 hours with time for breaks in between. It may seem a little pricey but everyone had fun so it was well worth it. Parking is included in the admission price. We are looking forward to our next trip. Friendly helpful staff and clean facilities.

The gravity house was cool. The bubble room was ok a little small. They have a Indian museum and bull riding. If you get the ultimate ticket you get axe throwing and old tyme photos

After paying admission in the building off the parking lot The Blowing Rock is a very short walk; I think the ticket counter said 39 steps. It's easy to climb up it for that postcard picture moment. There is a look out area beyond the rock down a paved path with coin operated binoculars. From this lookout the mountains are identified for you on a chart. Its a great view barring any cloud cover.

Don't let the name fool you! This is not your typical "memorial" park with swingsets, picnic tables and grills. It's a fabulous combination of a massive historic home, apple orchards, lakes, streams, pastures, wildlife and rolling hills. The carriage paths are easy on old joints and bones. I always wind up with fabulous photos.

Had a great time at Blowing Rock Brewery. Good food, good beers and fun live music on the patio. Would go again.

Absolutely wonderful trail and beautiful scenery. To be honest it is definitely an intermediate hiking trail. Lots of rocks and roots, some steep area, but over amazing. My family and I (teens) loved it. The reward of seeing beautiful waterfalls is a plus.

This is my go to place to ski in the NC mountains. Yes, I know Beech & Sugar have more and longer runs, but they also have a ton more people. Longest I've waited in the lift line at App is 10 minutes, compared to 30-45 minutes at Sugar & Beech. Less people also equals less idiots screaming down the hill at full speed and running into you. Yes, I've seen this at both Sugar and Beech. Both of those are good during the week, but for a weekend trip, App is the only way to go. Easy in and out. Close to Blowing Rock and Boone.

This is a lovely collection of art and artifacts. The current exhibit of local flowers in glass is delicate and beautiful. I really enjoyed the textiles on display and items from Blowing Rock’s history. Do take the time to visit with the local artists in residence-during our visit there was an artist working in stained glass and another in leathers.

Nice cottage of artist Elliot Dangerfield. Full of history in the winter and in summer it houses regional artist, a different artist each week. Fabulous works of art. A must see.

This is located behind the park in Blowing Rock, adjacent to the trailhead for Glen Burney Falls. Nice, quiet area.

Such a lovely street side garden of shrubs and flowers in the month of August. Park benches are elevated off of street level and it's a nice place to sit and people watch or enjoy a treat from the local ice cream shops. There is a playground here also.
