- Briana P1 contributionWe visited from TN and had a wonderful experience at the gem mine. June was patient and very informative for myself and my kids definitely recommend at least stopping in because the gift shop is unmatched and hopefully June is there when you stop!Written 27 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StacyTremont, IL5 contributionsI observed these falls twice from the same location, the viewing platform off of highway 276. I could not get to the falls from this highway unless I was a private owner or staying somewhere that you must enter thru the Entrance Gate. There's probably a way via hiking but I didn't want to hike nor have time to research further. It was BEAUTIFUL from this easy access/wheelchair accessible sturdy platform. And the bonus is seeing where it starts as the water rushes around the back half & side of the platform before falling down to join the other part of the falls in the distance. The first time I went it was morning and still foggy, so I went back when it was sunny (& fortunately just AFTER it had rained) so my photos turned out better. Great to simply sit (could bring a lawnchair) &/or stand & listen to nature.Written 10 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ruxtontmRichmond, VA57 contributionsThe atmosphere was fun. They had a good band playing.
I love their beer selection, but I would say the thing that keeps me coming back every time I am in the area are their cheeseburgers. They are top 5 cheeseburgers I have ever had, maybe the best. Especially with their beer.Written 17 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Displays newspaper front pages from many momentous military dates. Organized and run entirely by volunteers. Helps one better appreciate the sacrifices made by so many in the service.Written 20 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlexSaint Louis, MO25 contributionsHiked many trails on many continents and this is my favorite trail of the Appalachians. Good water access for backpacking, great views (probably the best views on the blue ridge) on the balds. Good history at Cold Mountain. Also easy access to graveyard fields.Written 10 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steve FAtlanta, GA4 contributionsThis is a treat to visit with obvious love and care applied by many volunteers local to the Brevard, NC community. We went to see the aluminum Christmas tree exhibit and enjoyed a delightful trip down memory lane. Deb McConaghy, gave us a tour filled with humorous anecdotes and surprising facts about the numerous displays. A really fun experience!Written 2 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- helenmariadTrinity, FL7 contributionsThis place is a fun experience for kids. Very rustic and the poles are very worn so it’s better to bring your own! Lady working there is friendly. We caught 10 lbs and had them filleted. Obviously not actually fishing, but quick fun for kids!Written 7 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PigwahlahLake Mary, FL178 contributionsBrevard rolls up the sidewalks at night. Nothing open really after about 5-6. We were aiming to have dinner at “Square Root”, but had a 1 hour wait. Decided to walk while we waited and found Brevard Brewing Company open. Bar attendant was knowledgeable and kind! Not pushy and answered all our questions. We tried a seasonal, dark lager, and the IPA. All were great and true to what they were brewed to taste like! Nothing flashy here which we appreciated. Some in our party played chess and the others battleship while we enjoyed our brew. If we lived closer, we would return. If you’re in town, this is certainly worth a visit.Written 31 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SlytherinMomWilmington, NC51 contributionsI wanted to buy everything! Fresh baked pastries, cheeses, jellies, eggs, prepared meals. I wish everything wasn’t so expensive but I have no buyers remorse.Written 8 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - modernlizbennetRaleigh, NC551 contributionsLovely little market. The vendors were all in costume. Only wish they sold beverages to match the chilly weather but there are coffee shops nearby.Written 1 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Subteach10Asheville, NC354 contributionsThis is a short hike that is easy to do but I would caution everyone to read about how to get there, where to park, and what to walk before going. It is not well marked and you will have no signal once there.Written 16 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WildHaireAdventuresTyler, TX1,452 contributionsStopped at this overlook while traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway and really thought it was beautiful. There was plenty of parking when we drove up. The views are beautiful and you can see for miles on a clear day.Written 19 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mixa's TravelsOldsmar, FL2,971 contributionsWe selected Slick Rock Falls from a brochure that included waterfalls in Transylvania County. Slick Rock Falls are very nice and you can "carefully" stand behind the Falls. There is a short trail to the Falls as on our visit it was barely visible from the road. I carefully got behind the Falls a bit for a pic and enjoyed the spray of the cool water.
Note:
Since we took FS475B to Log Hollow Falls we thought we would continue on it to Slick Rock Falls which is also off FS475B. We do NOT recommend that unless you are going on long hikes in the area. FS475B is a one lane narrow gravel road that twists and turns through Pisgah Forest. It is a TEDIOUS drive. If we were stopping other places along the road it would be different but not just to get to Slick Rock Falls. Easiest way to Slick Rock Falls is off US276 take FS475 about 1.5 miles then turn right onto FS475B over a mile to the Falls.Written 9 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. House includes a museum with period furniture. Grounds are cool, shaded, short walk from courthouse, walking trail accesible to anyone and a great playground for the kids.Written 9 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DavidandKarenTampaFlTampa, FL48 contributionsWe hiked this trail in October and enjoyed the beautiful fall leaves. This week we hiked to the falls and were able to see both falls at the same time because the leaves were down. It was spectacular! We also saw a third water fall that is not viewable when the leaves are on the trees. Absolutely wonderful hike!Written 25 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
