Lovely on a fall afternoon. Easy parking just across the street in front of the new Currituck Maritime Museum. Stroll over, informative outdoor sign giving the history of the lighthouse. Then stroll along the brick walkway from the late 1800s and pay to climb the lighthouse, or browse the lighthouse shop. We all enjoyed it very much. Suitable for adults and kids over four. Younger kids may be placed in child carriers for a family member to carry up the very steep and circular lighthouse stairs. This would be best for well behaved kids and adults.

Fun and unique experience driving on the beach! It was like a roller coaster ride in the car! Waves rolling in, sunshine, family time and laughs! Enjoyed every minute, although we didn't see any horses, we did see a jellyfish! We drove the 12 mile stretch to the border and then turned around to beat the sun going down. Took about an hour or so both ways, but it was enjoyable, peaceful, and relaxing!

If you love history and touring old homes, don't miss Whalehead. The mahogany woodwork is beautiful. The docents and recorded narratives in each room were very informative. The restoration included air conditioning so escape the heat and step back in time for a pleasant visit.

Although I enjoyed the entire experience, I especially enjoyed talking to the woman at the front desk. She was not only friendly, but entertained us with tales of the club area and the features about the wildlife that live on and/or visit the island. A very good ambassador for the northern Outer Banks!

An interesting shopping environment, lots of little independent stores. Attached is a boardwalk along the sound side. Views are spectacular,.
On a side note, if you collect smashed penny's for the little ones, there is a penny making machine outside one of the shops. It makes turtles, along with OBX logo and a couple more pictures.

There are several old buildings including the Currituck light house. You can climb up in the lighthouse for a small fee. The area also is near a small boat museum and a nature museum.

We have been going to Corolla Light Resort for almost 20 years and finally bought a beach house in the resort. Our family is a tennis family and we love playing for both fun and competitively.
Our two young grandsons have taken clinics at the indoor sports facility from the pro Jeff Wells which was lots of fun for them. I've also had a weekend clinic organized by Jeff for some of my tennis buddies (girl's weekend) to get us ready for the spring tennis season!
The facility has clay courts which are always in great condition and the entire facility is well equipped and clean! The staff is very friendly, and helpful. The resort has lots of outdoor courts - both hard and clay. We love Corolla Light Resort with all their amenities.

This is my favorite part of vacation! I'm a spin instructor, participate and sometimes instructor for a boot camp at home, and participate in everything from 100 mile bike rides to triathlons and can attest that this is a fantastic workout with an amazing and motivating group of people! You can't beat the scenery and will be amazed at how much you can do with these workouts! I'll be back every year!

Quaint makes me think of the song! " Chapel of Love " by the Dixie Cups. A must-see just so cute as you stroll up the flowering tree walkway.

Great selection of craft brews. We did flights of 4 and shared so we could taste all 9 varieties. Then we bought 2 cans of each to take home and share. Well worth it.

We enjoyed walking around and seeing the houses and life at the water. Beautiful, quiet walk. Nice interval.

A very well done museum. An eye-opening experience into the past. Some parts were hands on for children.

This is a fairly long and boring drive from Nags Head. The nature trail starts behind an indoor racquet club. The information signs are not well maintained. Unfortunately, we were not able to hike the trail as it was completely flooded. This seems normal for the area as some of the nearby road was flooded, and there are permanent road signs warning of flooding possibility. Before you go, try to pick a very dry time of year.
