This place was a hidden gem and our second time stopping here with our family. Cost to get in for a family was very affordable at $30 for myself and 5 kids. They have a cute little restaurant where you can eat inside or out in the garden. We packed a lunch and had a picnic on sight. The grounds have beautiful flowers with lots of grassy areas or benches for picnics. They have farm animals that you can buy little bags of feed that cost $1. The kids got to participate in tin piercing and have tea while one of the interpreters explained the history. We got into the main building which is the general store/hotel and the kids got to explore and ask questions and the very sweet lady behind the counter showed the kids all of the vintage toys and how they worked and they even got to try them out!
When we were finished we went back through the gift shop and got a couple of treats for the kids. They also have an assortment of ice cream as well.

We were affected by the flooding at Kilby. Many of the amenities were closed down (dock and day use area). We decided to go and did not enjoy the camping. There were inconsistencies with refunds offered based on the conditions of the campsites. We are sympathetic about the flooding but feel decisions about closures and refunds could have been more proactive. We will not be camping there in the future.

We golfed Sandpiper on July 62022.

The course was in good condition except for the flooding on the back nine which made us wonder why we had to pay the full $85 dollar green fees.

The fairways were satisfactory and the greens were in perfect condition.

But we feel the green fees are too high…the score card has the caption “Play the piper”… it should probably read …” Be prepared to pay the Piper!!”

A beautiful course but overpriced for seniors on fixed incomes.
For that reason we will not golf there again.

Four of us booked Mike and Prestige Sportfishing for four hour guided sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River in British Columbia. We met Mike in Mission at the boat launch at 8:00 a.m. hoping to land a big sturgeon. All of us had purchased a tidal waters one day fishing license - mandatory - and set out to catch a sturgeon. We wanted one but the sturgeon were only teasing with a little nibble now and then. Mike moved the boat several times looking for a hot spot. This was a comfortable boat with lots of room for four. Prestige is a bring your own food and drinks, and a cup of coffee would have been great. Mike puts on the lures - slab of herring or a bag of salmon roe - and casts the line out on an open face reel. Any touch on the line and Mike was ready to set the hook and hand it to one of us. We moved down the river stopping several times almost reaching Maple Ridge before he called it a day. Neat experience but no luck. It may have been somewhat early in the season but Mike assured us that our charter was by no means the first.
