My husband and I were staying in Bar Harbor and decided to take the drive to Campobello Island to see the cottages and grounds. This was one of the best days of our vacation! Beautiful drive through Maine ending in this historical area that takes one back to another time and place. One could feel the history There is a lovely cafe on the grounds with surprisingly good food. Would highly recommend

At low tide you can pay a fee to the attendant, go down some metal stairs, and walk across a mucky area to the small island where the lighthouse sits. We arrived late afternoon as low tide was ending and saw a couple walking back across, and the attendant was closing up her kiosk since no one else could walk across that day. It is free of charge to park and take photos without walking across to the lighthouse island. Just a gorgeous spot.

Nice lighthouse with great views of the FDR bridge and across the water to Lubec, Maine. There was a small building next to the lighthouse with a friendly ranger who spent several minutes talking with us about the sea life of the area, so don’t miss those exhibits. We saw seals here 20 years ago, but that was in August and we didn’t see any this trip; the ranger said we were a few weeks too early for the seals. If you are taking a day trip to Campobello Island, don’t miss a 15-minute stop at this lighthouse.

If you are on Campobello Island DO NOT miss going to this lighthouse. We were there when the tide was high, so we didn't get to go out to the light. But we did walk around the park area and got wonderful views of this beautiful lighthouse. On a side note...the outhouse at the park has to be one of the nicest porta potty I've ever seen. We only spent 30 minutes here, but if you go at low tide give yourself plenty of time to walk over to the island and visit the buildings there.

Peter was a great guide; he was friendly, prompt, and taught our small group of four in his van lots about Campobello during our three hour tour.

All arranged by Peter, we got a jet boat ride from St. Andrews to Campobello island and he was waiting to pick us up at the dock. We picked up the other two tourists and headed to all the corners of the island.

We saw a bald eagle, rocky beaches, lighthouses, and lots more. He was filled with info and stories about the island and answered all questions. Peter talked just the right amount, giving us all enough quiet moments to absorb everything.

In addition to the tour, he not only arranged for the jet boat ride to the island but also took us to tea with Eleanor (which he booked for us) and the café at the provincial park then, dropped us off at the dock to get the jet boat back to St. Andrews.

If you're planning on visiting Campobello, I highly recommend this tour. You will really get to know the island. Much much better than tooling around on your own!

I particularly liked Peter's balance of a laid back attitude with serious professionalism.

This was on my bucket list and it was an amazing adventure! Captain Mackie and Robert were excellent at providing a warm welcome and an interesting and informative tour on a beautiful evening. We saw Minke whales, Finback whales and lots of porpoises and seals. Also some bald eagles and ospreys along the way. It was truly a spectacular experience and I was thrilled to be a part of it. So interesting to hear about the work they are doing with the Campobello Whale Rescue and their respect for these animals. Thank you Captain Mackie Greene and Robert Fitzsimmons!
