- Kerry WToronto, Canada1 contributionI've been going to this lock since I was a child and I love it. There is an anchor dedicated to my great grandfather which I love to visit. Such a lovely little walking place. The kids always loved to see the lock in motion.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aneeq AMississauga, Canada3 contributionsBeach was alright. Except near the entrance, we had the best experience in the dog zone (just the regular beach with one or two dog owners, nothing big).
When we went, we noticed the smell. It may have just been the goopy, green clay like material lining the shore (which made it so weird to walk into the water, luckily it didn't stick.), or the 6 feet of thick, tightly strung algae lining the shallow water. Luckily, if you move further into the beach, the clay-like material disappears, and the algae deposits also disappear. The water itself is really nice and cool, and was fun to dive around and swim in. Other than the smell and clay, the beach itself is fun.Written 22 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wwwonderToronto15 contributionsAfter visiting the canal, we visited the museum here, Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum. This museum is another pleasant surprise. Parking and visiting the museum are free. It consists of two parts, indoor and outdoor, and is of a certain size. In the indoor part, some exhibits and materials about the history of Port Colborne are exhibited. It turns out that two famous food companies in Canada, Red Robin, which produces flour, and Maple Leaf, which produces meat, both originated from Port Colborne, which is unexpected.
Its outdoor part has a very rich exhibition. The theme part is similar to the design of a heritage village, exhibiting classrooms, mills, blacksmith shop, textile workshop, houses, etc. that have been preserved in the mid-nineteenth century. A 235-year-old tulip tree slice is exhibited in the blacksmith shop. What impressed me was that there was a special exhibition hall exhibiting a steam car produced here in 1899, called Neef Buggy. Although this car burns oil, it is steam-powered and is known as the third oldest car in Canada. And the history of this car is also very interesting. It has been transferred many times, then lost and found, and finally it was refurbished and exhibited in its birthplace. In addition, there are some shipping-related exhibits such as anchors, propellers, lifeboats, lighthouses, ship models, etc. The museum is very clean and tidy inside and out. It is the best small town museum I have ever seen.Written 17 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Start is Charles Ansell Park in St Catherines (free parking right beside the trail) with stops in Port Colborne and Niaga Falls for food and lodging. Love this trail!Written 12 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robby G CToronto, Canada81,657 contributionsWhen we arrives we parked our car.
However on the other side had quite a lot to see!
I liked the beach and enjoyed the beach and swimming at the Lake Erie.
There were many shelters as well and benches.
This is the best place to enjoy!Written 27 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - LAURAERIE1 contribution1 the city has to bring more tail ships into the canal - for touring and pictures
2 Lake view park - why not fix the existing band shelter to host the bands there, therefor spectators can sit on the hill and in the midway to enjoy the view, we had our backs turned to the marina/mill/lake/breakwall. that would make it a more marine experience.
3 nobody likes the car show so far away, close more streets downtown if you have to - fill the streets with these beauties, maybe parade them from the vale centre to a resting spot downtown for a few hours to keep the festival closer together, not across the bridge ..
my 2 cents * all in all it was greatWritten 2 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
