Absolutely brilliant, bay hotel exceptional, solo trip for 3 nights from Scotland. Was well looked after, rooms very clean, food spot on, barstaff very friendly, Aiden kept me well in drink, if ya need anything just ask. The old guy that made a cracking breakfast, sorry but i never got his name. Will be back again for a 4th trip. 5 ⭐️

It’s a cold gale force wind blowing the n our 1st ever visit here (February)
Car parked up at the top parking area free of charge until March.
Having not been to Robin Hoods Bay before it’s a.l very steep road to the bottom where the beach is.
Anyone with walking difficulties may find it taxing.
No parking once you leave the top car park so take note….
Out of season the odd shop is open plus a pub and an eatery at the bottom.
I can imagine in summer this place will be bustling and there’s cafes fish shops to frequent if required.
Back to the beach it’s sandy in areas but has rocky outcrops and large pebbles around the shoreline arc.
It’s a sea shell collectors paradise many different colours to be seen.
It’s fair game on our visit we had near on 2hours around here, the wind was awful.
Out of season it’s a dog walkers paradise.
It’s recommended here for a revisit in better weather and later on in the year

We walked along the beach from Ravenscar. Got wet toes just as we arrived due to changing tides! Lovely lunch sat on the terrace. Relaxing and rejuvenating for the walk back. Perfect !

Informative small exhibition upstais. Good interactive elements for kids. Free for NT but remember to scan your card in the café as they get funds that way.
Lovely, helpful and keen young lady served us nice coffees. Binoculars available by the windows.
Go up the steps to the right of the building to the quarterdeck where you can sit on benches and admire the view even at high tide. Nice sun trap, Lots of benches and refreshments sold there. Spent a couple of hours basking in the sun. About 20 decent steps down to access it with a rail.
Tide high but we are told that the beach is excellent with rockpools and a small circular walk.
Great view of the village from the path leading up from the quarterdeck but would not recommend for people with mobility issues though!

A group of four friends were visiting the Whitby area for the day. As I had never visited Robin Hood's Bay previously, I had a look on line and it looked possible to drive to the harbour, drop off one of our party who has serious mobility issues and then drive back up to park the car.

I failed to see the "Permit holders only" sign at the top and drove down the narrow high street, aghast at the 30% steep hill sign. With no opportunities to turn I had no option but to keep going.

Once at the harbour, I deposited my three friends and drove back up to the car park. This was challenging to say the least. A couple of MPV's came the other way and passing was nigh impossible. The 30% gradient required first gear and huge revs. Eventually I made the car park and walked back down to meet my friends.

I said I doubted whether I could do a repeat trip to collect them but two said they'd never make it up the hill on foot.

So after a mooch around the small shops, I returned for the car. the second uphill trip was worse with a full load and an underpowered Vauxhall Zafira. There are many pedestrians on the narrow street.

We made it but the experience almost left me mentally scarred.

Maybe they need a lad rover shuttle like Clovelly

Lovely little station to visit. Exhibition was a lovely experience and so informative. The café attached to the station was warm and welcoming. Manged to sit by the port windows and starring out to sea. Lovely little gem

Beautiful and unique church well worth a visit. A very peaceful and special visit I came across this church by chance as it’s not often that church are open all the time.
Very informative leaflets and display boards inside the church about the church’s history and it is currently celebrating 200years
A well done to the volunteers who keep the church clean - a small flock of sheep were grazing within the churchyard
Worth a visit if you are passing the area

Very remote and cosy house. Large kitchen (fully equipped to prepare food) and living room.
The house is very well kept. You certainly need a car if you stay there as there is nothing around but a few other houses

We have visited this shop on a previous occasion and have always been overly impressed with lovely selection of Men’s / Women’s clothes, as well as the owner and his staff, who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products they sell. The quality of the products is fantastic, with a little history thrown in behind them. What they were worn for, the reason for each knitting pattern etc. On our last visit my wife kindly purchased a "Staithes" knitted “Gansy” - a "Beautiful" quality jumper, which has now been put away for my Christmas present.
But I also loved the Boat Neck Smock which unfortunately they did not have in my size. I duly waited and to their word I was informed the stock had arrived and it was dispatched by their quick online purchase system. I am absolutely delighted with the quality and fit - just what I wanted. I wore a very similar smock many years ago, as did my brothers and father, when we holidayed with our parents at Robin Hood Bay , bringing back happy memories. Good luck for the future Berties.

Can’t believe how much they stock and it’s all fresh, well priced and a lot local. The opening and closing times alter for seasons so check if you need some last minute bits. It’s not one of those convenience stores that pushes its prices up either-knowing you’ve not got much local choice. I can see why it does so well and is so popular with holidaymakers

My grandchildren have loved browsing and spending their holiday money in The Toy Shop and we are all so disappointed to hear it is closing.
The choice of toys and games was excellent, but I know I can continue to find those lovely items on their website.
I have on occasions bought from the website and have always been impressed with the well packaged items which have been delivered very promptly, and have no hesitation in recommending them.
