Great place for taking a circular walk. I took my daughters dog. Dogs can be off lead as long as their recall is good as some people have their dogs on lead.
Dimmingsdale can be quite hilly in some parts, but if you go up, then you have to come down! Great views from the top. Good pathway up to the top but if on the circular the other side can be quite bogy this time of year due to the rain coming off the hills and the river flowing through so not suitable for anyone that's unsteady on their feet. Looking forward to coming back in the summer when hopefully the other side isn't so bogy.

Stayed at the Alton Towers Hotel where the Staff are just fantastic Especially Mick he is a great brand ambassador,my only complaint about the hotel is the main restaurant on one of the mornings I had gone for breakfast and got my toast and coffee and put them on the table while I went to get the breakfast when I come back one of the Girls there had cleared them from the table she just said sorry and walked off not can I get you more to replace them not good.
Dan from Guest services couldn’t thank him enough he was a great help sorting out an issue with my sons Ride access pass.
Rollercoaster Restaurant nice gimmick but to over priced for what quality you get this needs to be addressed I wouldn’t waste my money going again
Apart from that the Park is amazing as always just need some new extreme thrill rides not just a change of theme and a paint job

Stayed at splash landings, hotel was nice and clean, however the evening food was way to expensive!
Disappointing to arrive in park early 3 days in a row to have be told that galactic and Nemesis was delayed opening, oblivion was close for hourse and so was Rita, foe most of one of the days! So even though we goy in the park early, we didn't hetvon any rides till 10.45. Extremely disappointing.

Unique wall paintings and an Anglo Saxon Font. The site of the Battle of Alton during the civil war. We received a great welcome. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Let's be honest, Alton doesn't have a great deal to offer - unless of course you're crazy about visiting retirement homes and collecting tat from charity shops.

However, the Alton Promenade is quite literally a breath of fresh air. It emerges resplendent as you exit John Trimmer Walk from the High Street, and neatly dissects the car park behind Iceland on the way to Sainsbury's.

Over 30 metres long, this roofed, colonnaded (my friend Rowlo remarked on how much this feature reminded him of Roman architecture) and tree-lined walkway offers excellent cover from the elements.

In fact, on the day I strolled the promenade it was quite rainy and blustery but I felt well protected by the trees lining its sides and the clear roof offered excellent views of the dramatic storm clouds overhead.

The Alton Promenade never closes, it's open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It's conveniently close to the public toilets and a handy noticeboard showcasing other Alton delights. Incredibly, it's also completely free.

Kids (6, 3 & 3) loved Cbeebies land and we did too.
There is a good mixture of rides, shows, and houses with activities in (Justin's house with the ball cannons was especially fun but can get a bit crazy).
We visited during Easter but the weather wasn't great so perhaps kept away the big crowds. On average we queued 10-15 mins for rides. Octonaughts was the longest at about 30 mins but it's the best ride in this area.
We had completed everything by about 2pm so ventured out into the park where there are a number of rides still for small kids such as in the David Walliams section. The aquarium is also good to get out of the rain.
All staff were great, very friendly and helpful.
Queue for the monorail is just too long versus a 15-20 min walk so it's not even question not to walk.
Definitely buy tickets in advance as it's cheaper. it is a shame that young kids if over 90cm still have to pay full whack because they can't go on everything. So for 2 adults and 3 kids under 6 (all over 90cm) it came to £180. The fact you have to then pay for parking, another £10 is quite ridiculous too but no choice. Obviously good and drinks in there are very expensive so take a packed lunch and supplement if needs be.

I would definitely return but perhaps when the kids are a little older so you get more for your money.
