This was a worthwhile detour to see castle ruins on private property that the owners generously allow public access to. There's parking across from the cemetery and just a short walk to the grounds to view the castle ruins and an old mausoleum.

We walked up the double Munro route of Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers. The path is perfect and well maintained all the way up. There's a tiny bit of minor 'scrambling' at the very ends. A totally comfortable adventure if you're average fit. It can get windy (it did) and wet (it didn't) so be prepared. In the morning we bumped into a National Trust staff member and she was full of really helpful advice and listed a whole load of activities on this vast, beautiful site. You could spend days here. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you.

This picturesque water mill is now a small museum of the area and a gift shop of above average quality.
It sits amidst the runnels and rivulets of the Dochart falls and, during opening times, the old wheel still turns. The corresponding wheels, gears and cogs can be viewed inside the gift shop.
The shop sells good quality items like soap, greetings cards, paintings, candles, sculptures etc.
The museum occupies the upper floor and consists largely of old photographs and printed boards to read. There are a handful of artefacts on display as well. Personally, I am not keen on standing reading a lot of text from boards but they appeared well written and others were clearly finding them interesting, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting. You might as well - it's free of charge.
Running around the outside of the mill is a wooden platform allowing closer views of the wheel, the river and surrounding trees. This can be accessed even when the mill is closed and makes a good place to view wildlife. I saw many birds and even a red squirrel from here.
Like many of Killin's points of interest, I would say The Old Mill is a must if you're spending time here, a strong maybe if passing through but possibly not, in isolation, something to travel any great distance for.

Wonderful scenic walk along the old Caledonian Railway bed over one of the first concrete bridges over the river down from the falls. Breathtaking views of the river, falls, loch, bens, sheep, old graveyards and the Finlarig Castle ruins. Wear comfortable shoes. Such a pretty village and in the winter months some of the restaurants are closed but you have the best views without the crowds. Highly recommend getting out of the city to visit this village.

Super cool to see/touch something so old. Make sure you go in, just be respectful... and be mindful of the cow poop!

Moirlanich Longhouse, to me, represents an excellent example of how a small historic site can be run to engage and interest the visitor.
It should be said that you will need some level interest in cultural history in order to enjoy this small and, arguably, low-key site. National Trust well as its Scottish counterpart (NTS) visit for free.
The house is furnished, decorated and equipped as it would have been right up to the early 20th century. Each room is full of fascinating detail and the whole gives the feeling of a real, if humble, home.
Displays and information boards paint a picture of the rural, farming lifestyle of the erstwhile inhabitants but, best of all, the volunteer guides working here are keen to chat about the house, the life of its inhabitant and indeed, the history of the area in general. Without these excellent guides, I might have awarded one fewer star to this attraction. As it is, I'd love to have been able to give 4 1/2 stars.
If in the area and interested in its history, this is a must.

    Underrated completely.

A gem which sadly the tourism side of things doesn’t exploit more.

    Magnificent engineering, a historical gem.

Part of a good walk to loch Tay.

We were staying in Killin, within yards of this monument, so we felt we should have a look.
For those related to or associated with Clan McNabb, there will be a whole different aspect to a visit but, as a complete outsider, it still provides a point of interest, albeit a quiet, low-key one.
A £15 deposit, plus a £5 charge will get you the key from one of the nearby shops, for which you can get a closer look at the intriguing 'gateway' as well as various memorial stones and a walled mausoleum, further down the path. You are also gaining access to an island in the river, which is heavily wooded, peaceful and atmospheric.
It is a moot point as to whether this merits the £5 entry fee but, if you enjoy small but quirky curiosities, you can reflect that it won't exactly break the bank in any case.
We enjoyed the burial ground as a small part of our exploration of the village but I can't imagine many people would find it worthwhile coming from any distance to view in isolation. That is, unless they're related to the McNabbs.

A very beautiful golf course. Dramatic mountain views, well maintained greens, fairways that are graced with ancient trees.

This is a truly wonderful place to visit. Work has been completed on improving the main footpath and the path through the woodland to the river. Deer roaming, a few beaver swimming in the evening and an owl hunting were all enjoyed. There is signs of an otter visiting the pond area. Unfortunately, the viewing hide now requires an access code due to vandalism. Details on this are on the door. There is only room for two cars at the entrance at present as the small car park is closed due to illegal camping. Numerous hedges and trees seem to have been planted during the early part of this year. On talking to some volunteers wild camping is allowed but all rubbish must be taken away. No fishing signs have been erected due to abuse and old line and litter left on the riverbank. Overall, this wee gem is now coming alive again and anyone interested in helping on all sorts of tasks should get in contact with the main volunteers (details at the main entrance). Call in and see for yourself, sit on the mound (see the Bronze age round house stones,), hunt for the neolithic cup marks, photograph Glen Dochart or Ben More in the distance and go and sit by the river and chill. Midges are the downfall now the warmer weather is upon us so remember this head net and repellent! Lots of work is planned this year to enhance so many areas so keep dropping in and try and help out.
