Tour de North East Victoria- Active Luxury.2-9 May 2022
This was a six night tour, all meals provided. It was fabulous. Weather was mostly sunny so we were lucky. Fun group of people. All accommodation was excellent, and 2 sites in particular were spectacular. Reading a long review from April , I think this was the same tour that preceded ours and I am pleased to say that obvious improvements had been made. I am surprised that a comment in that review was made that alcohol was the consumer's responsibility, as this is what would always be expected. The wine at tastings (and these wineries were well chosen) was of course complimentary
Our tour guide/leader Marcus was a gem and I cannot speak highly enough of him. Most meals were superb and it seemed every effort had been made to make them quite varied. There were a couple of rather ordinary pub dinners but finding restaurants open in small towns is not always possible. We were bussed a long way for the final dinner which was brilliant.
The Murray to mountains rail trail on converted railway routes is fantastic for cycling and the 15km long downhill track from Milawa to Everton (which we did twice) is extremely exhilarating. The distances each day are not great and the tour deserves its easy classification. Most people who are reasonably fit and have done some cycling should handle it quite easily. If in doubt, ebikes are available, as used by 2 of our group of 9. The Autumn colours of tree foliage were exquisite.
We also visited cheese tasting, pumpkin seed and apple produce venues, all very worthwhile and providing some variety.
In summary I can say that if you are fortunate enough to have a trip like ours you will have great and memorable experiences.
The only warning is that there was some confusion from information provided whether this was six or seven nights so please be aware and check itineraries carefully.
