What a fabulous stop and awesome museum. One of the best curated, organized and thorough museums ever. We spent 2 hours there and loved every minute. The wall of fame is impressive and the ladies who work there are extremely nice and knowledgeable. Free juke box with music of many country music stars. You can tell that a lot of detail went into every display including life stories and back stories. To be in the museum you either had to have been born in Texas or spent a significant time in Texas and make a significant contribution to country music as well. Bob Wills, Waylon and Willie, Johnny Bush and Johnny Lee, Mickey Gilly, Ray Price, Jim Reeves to name a few.

Despite being right next to a highway, it is very peaceful, and a strong sense of God’s presence is here. Even on a scorching hot July day sitting under the pavilion in the shade. There is a slight breeze. Plenty of parking and enough space to have alone time with God.

If you have time , don’t pass up the opportunity to read the many plaques of scriptures which paints a picture of how a vision and need became a reality from the support of the community.

Tip: there are no trash cans, no bathrooms, no water, so come prepared if you plan on spending a lot of time here.

The memorial was just outside of Carthage and we stopped there after our visit to the Tex Ritter and Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage. Well kept grounds and the walk to the graves has a huge guitar on the path and he has a monument, his wife and dog are buried there. Something unusual for the country music fan.
