I only visited the butterfly center at the HMNS. I enjoyed it! It was a beautiful setting and very peaceful. the waterfall was a really nice feature. It was an educational experience with lots of great information. The kids seemed to love seeing all the butterflies. There are not so many in there that they land on you a lot like some other Butterfly exhibits I have been to.
it was a great way to spend an hour or so.
NOTE FOR THE BUTTERFLY CENTER:
There was one attendant I saw touching the butterflies and getting them to move and fly. There seemed to be no compelling reason to touch them other than to 'play' with them. The staff uniforms are pretty non-descript so I didn't realize they were an employee. I told her, " I don't think you are meant to be touching the butterflies," she waved her radio at me to indicate she worked there. She told me, "we just tell the kids that,". I only bring this up as it sets an example for other visitors and kids that see that and think it's OK to do the same. If you don't want people to walk around touching the butterflies, the staff probably should leave them alone too.
