Nice walk, clean air, quite a few things to see. It is a two hours walk there plus two hours back, so be prepared for some exercise.

I highly recommend going to the Guadarrama Parque National. The hike was beautiful. We took the easy hike to the Laguna Glacial de Penalara.

The lake itself is just ok and roped off.

Dress warmly and in layers. It’s cold in the morning and windy.

You need cash for both the bus and train.

To get to the Penalara Visitor Center from Madrid, there are a couple of options. You can take the 691 bus from the Moncloa subway station. This is the quickest way. But the 691 doesn’t run often.

Or you can take the 684 to Cercedilla and from there a train to Los Cotos. (If you want to take the Seven peaks trail, you have to go to the Navacerrada station. This is the longer route to Penalara.

Well, if you are from Finland and find "finnish forest" on your way... what can you do. Go there and write about it.

It's just park area, finnish gave as a gifr some trees at some time and there is also something that could look like finnish sauna. Cannot step in though...

Honestly, doesn't remind me of Finland but why it should? It's nice that such things are done and memories kept by naming places.

Recently went with a school group. Lovely shallow natural pools. Very safe for all the family. Only 9 euros for a car with all its occupants. Bar and toilets. Glorious scenery and driving in the mountains to get to Rascafria. Can be very busy in summer.
    Would definitely recommend.

Serene .. scenic... calm.... nice spot for hiking and trekking... amazing view of mountains...

There are not too many spots or things to do in cotos... you have couple of cafes out there ... and mountains all around you... but the place is really beautiful... and excellent option for adventurist
