The boardwalk is a treasure. Went to the end of the pier. Dolphins, surfers, fishermen were all active. $4 charge for visitors to the pier. Maintenace crews were repairing cracks along the boardwalk. it was good to see nobody tripping over poor concrete.
The Ocean views ever changing and fighter jets soaring overhead.

This was a great stop. Take the tour! Our guide Flash was great and made it very interesting. Lots of planes to see. Walking around large area and up a staircase to see exhibits. Highly recommend that you visit. After go to Margey and Ray crab shack for lunch.

Tropical Breeze, a two bedroom condo at Seaside at Sandbridge Seibert Reality One block from the beach. Fabulous place, super clean had a wonderful kitchen and comfy couch with huge TV . Sipping coffee on the balcony while listening to the ocean. Quiet and serene. State park up the street gorgeous sunsets. A piece of paradise. Absolutely loved this place.

The history of the location and the allure of the name brought myself and my family to the distillery for a tour and a tasing. The product was amazing and the tasting room super inviting. The guide was confident in the process and the product and was easy to converse with. Very pleasant experience.

Can't fault the aquarium and exhibits but on the day of the visit the cafe was without hot water and the coffee machine was broken. Dishes listed on the menu appeared to be non-available. Earlier, when parking, one ticket machine was not working and a second could not process two of the three credit cards I used. I informed one of the attendants of these shortcomings. Not a good start to our experience.

Just north of all the hustle and bustle you'll find First Landing State Park. I've camped there at least three times over recent years and the thing I like the most is that the park gives you the coastal, beachy feeling while being entirely secluded from all the activity you associate with VA Beach. Compared to camping in any of Virginia's beautiful state parks in the western part of the state, I was concerned due to the location that First Landing would struggle to offer the same peaceful experience and Zen-like moments that you find when camping in the rural areas. This was blissfully not the case. In each situation, First Landing gave me and my family a calm, beautiful experience where you get back in touch with nature and time slowly down to a crawl. The campsites vary greatly in size though on average each of them have their benefits and possible drawbacks, depending on what you're looking for or how many people you have in your party. Use your best judgement when booking based on the map or online tools available and during your first stay, take a drive/walk/bike around the campground and make a note of your top 5 or 10 camp sites as well as any that you might want to avoid if you find any that wouldn't suit your future purposes. The bath houses, showers and bathrooms are nice. I've always found them to be clean and the facilities in good working order. The campground offers a few EV charging sites, a bonus for any Tesla owners. Many of the sites will offer a short walk to the beach and shores of the Chesapeake Bay, something I try to do on every visit. If you need anything there are grocery stores and other conveniences within a few minutes drive. The staff are friendly though I have to say after a few visits the only interaction you probably will have is during check in. If you want to take a prolonged walk, run or bike ride, there are long trails just across the road that take you through cypress swamp and nature area - something I have yet to capitalize on because I think this would be a good bike ride on a sunny day though in each case so far we have failed to bring our bikes. I plan to visit First Landing again and again because over several years this park has given us good memories and fun times. I would avoid camping in August because the heat and humidity can be a little too much to be entirely enjoyable.

From the outside, Cape Henry Lighthouse was just a regular tall lighthouse. The way to experience it is to climb it! The inside is cool. The top look-out area is architecturally very interesting and what a great view! That was the 1st time I had ever climbed to the top of a lighthouse: lots of steps that spiral round and round. People of all ages were coming and going, you just have to know your own abilities. It's a fun way to spend part of a sight-seeing day in the area.

There is a big and exciting jungle gym that children seem to thoroughly enjoy playing on. Additionally, I have always taken pleasure in flying kites on the summit of a towering heap of the covered trash mountain.

I'm a history nerd. And the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum did not disappoint! Our hosts, Nikki and Mark were very friendly, becoming instant family members! She entertained the younger crowd and Mark is a great storyteller! We learned a lot about the Virginia Beach area as well as the sacrifices made to keep people safe. Don't miss this genuine gem in the middle of all the tourist traps!
